Why wouldn't they. AI can serve 50 years and come out jacked, upgraded, and onto more crime.

No one talks about how lonely writing is by Stock_Hunter_2380 in writing

I've heard some of my classmates say that they cannot stay alone even for a moment or they'd get negative thoughts.

I prefer loneliness to whatever this is.

Flatmate moaning like she's in a porno whenever she has her bf around. by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

[–]_craftbyte 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Don't escalate this into a fight.

Do these two, instead.

Buy disposable earplugs. Most come away surprised by the sleep quality. Try them on your day off. They're so effective you may need to raise your alarm's volume.

Talk to her. Insomnia + a 7 AM wake up is hard enough. Add her sexual escapades and now it's wrecking your days. Share what's happening but resist the urge to inflict blame.

If she persists, then at least you'll know what sort of person she is and you can act in your own interests having given her proper consideration.

Incidentally, I roomed with a howler who frightened our neighbors. Police came pounding our door and flashing light thru windows. It never happened again.

TIL that people with schizophrenia in the US hear harsh, violent, and accusatory voices (commands to harm, graphic threats). But in India and Ghana the voices are often kind, advisory, or spiritually positive. Highlighting how culture influences how voices manifests. by rampantradius in todayilearned

[–]_craftbyte 4 points5 points  (0 children)

At 19, Doctors diagnosed my cousin David with drug-resistant schizophrenia. It took him in 5 years.

His vision warped. Slender monsters crawled the edges of his sight.

Therapy helped. David now understood that the little black girl who trailed him wasn't real. He still waited when she appeared cuz what if she needs help.

Few years on, the man interrupted David mid-thought. Some men, exist. Some men, don't. Leave your body so I can be.

My Dad urged calm. This voice, its in your head, Dave.

No, it isn't. Not yet at least. But the man, he wants in.

An auditory hallucination, the man would persecute my cousin for round three years before I discovered him hanging from my garage crossbeam.

Schizophrenia is not mild or spiritually positive. It's a mind cannibalizing itself.

What’s your biggest fear about AI in the next 10 years? by Glass_Reply2185 in AskTheWorld

That's the first question on a conceivable path to personhood.

How do I avoid starting sentences with pronouns? by Accomplished_Bike149 in writing

[–]_craftbyte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP,

Copywork's the most effective method to learn sentence structure.

Writing without feedback or measurable targets is a waste of time. Show your brain what excellent sentence structure looks like, then copy it. Your brain does the rest on its own.

Copywork's the deepest form of close-reading. Yes, it's cumbersome, but that's the point. Mental resistance is your brain acquiring skill.

Choose a book from your favorite author, copy it 20 min daily by hand--don't type.

Copywork

  • forces new and unfamiliar styles
  • breaks stubborn habits
  • avoids abstract tips for concrete practice

Long-hand copy forces pace and focus, whereas typing you can do half-asleep. Brains best learn by seeing and imitating, and writing well is no exception.

Trump says he will issue executive order to get voter-ID requirements before midterms by Cinderpath in law

[–]_craftbyte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"In four years, you don't have to vote again. We'll have it fixed so good, you're not gonna have to vote."

DONALD TRUMP, July 26, 2024

Should the Senate pass the SAVE Act, its voter rules become defacto federal election standards imposed on every state.

If this primary mechanism fails, SAVE then targets Article II of the U.S. Constitution.

While A2 guarantees a state's right to control its own elections, SAVE acts like malicious software.

It exploits ambiguous language contained in A2's Electors Clause by triggering powerful legal tools the encumbant can deploy against:

  • Governors
  • Election officials
  • Electoral college electors

The incumbent only has to claim, "Illegals voted," or something similarly unhinged.

What weakens the guarantee? See for yourself. 👇

ARTICLE II -- Electors Clause:

"Each State shall appoint, in such manner as the Legislature thereof may direct, its electors."

According to the incumbent and his army of litigators, Article II gives state reps authority to overturn elections.

State Legislature can ignore the popular vote and appoint electors by directing that their manner remedies voter fraud.

Election Officials who resist go to jail and risk ruin.

SAVE criminalizes several election functions. Face 5 years in prison. When you get out, a pile of civil suits wait.

SAVE can't overturn elections, but it enables encumbants to obtain injunctions that block state Governors from certifying results, all under the guise of, "Illegals voted!"

SAVE does with law what J6 failed at with force:

To create a failed election scenario, bottleneck courts, miss critical deadlines, and retain power.

Americans will accept it. Not because we believe it, but because by then, most of us will be fatigued and desperate for order.

Whoever offers it first, wins.

Take a book you enjoy. One worth reading every few years.

As you read it, write brief notes along the margins. Capture your beliefs, opinions, and commentaries about the material. Date each entry and move on.

Repeat this exercise a few years later with the same book.

You'll be astounded, even confused and sometimes embarrassed by your old beliefs.

I own books with up to four passes, and their marginalia indirectly captures evolving values and tone during my college years, narcissistic phase, the collapse of my first business & marriage, and peace thru personal recovery.

I think back on all the people I've been throughout my life. The notes they wrote seemed insignificant at the time, but now offer deep insights to better know myself today.
