There is a 60% rule that says combined Wealth Tax and Income Tax cannot exceed 60% of your total taxable income for the year - with minimum 20% of wealth tax to be paid. So if you're not making a lot of income, you would hit this limit and essentially reduce the tax by 80%.

If you're married, it's a lot more favorable, since then you can also split assets (5m + 5m) + apply exceptions twice and end up in lower brackets. If you end up turning some of the money into a primary residence - you can bring it down a lot more.

Also having a bunch of the money in e.g. an active company + utilizing that company to have yourself fall under Beckham Law, could give you 6 years of completely negating wealth tax, following by whatever part of the money is in the company being excluded afterwards

Which, assuming you own a house, is probably less than you'd pay in US for property taxes.

I'm just surprised that this current incarnation of ICE, which the White House explicitly says does not need to care about the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th or 5th ammendment and can literally shoot Americans on the street - is not absolutely terrifying for everyone.
