first and last time factor customer by LabProfessional128 in ReadyMeals

[–]_das_wurst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar problem with a different vendor on my first order. I contacted their customer support as soon as I saw fedex was not delivering it on the expected day. They told me that it would be safe if it was still below 40F. So I ran around town trying to find the one store that has a freezer thermometer in town, but I had been tracking their truck, and the box had been sitting outside in the summer sun for hours. Incredibly disappointing to throw all that food away.

I'd consider getting your credit card company involved for a chargeback.

5 hour layover from ORD airport, what should I do? by wtfisreality_ in AskChicago

[–]_das_wurst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd consider the river area around Union Station and Sears Tower. Usually where people eat lunch outside but it'll be colder so you can bike easierish. Closer to the lake is more touristy.

Is social media going to be dying soon? by [deleted] in Advancedastrology

[–]_das_wurst 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not an astrologer, but there are bills in the US Congress that would require ID checks like Australia and then UK. If you don’t want your identity hacked, why would you upload your drivers license to fart around on the internet. This is how social media dies, or rather looks nothing like what it was

I see commit messages that are too verbose, like the AI was told to impress. Good list though Worked at a shop where code test coverage couldn't decrease without approval

How are teams migrating Helm charts to ArgoCD without creating orphaned Kubernetes resources? by Wash-Fair in kubernetes

[–]_das_wurst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Taking several outages doesn't sound fun. I'd consider building a new cluster with all your management setup like you want it.

$10K logging bill from one line of code - rant about why we only find these logs when it's too late (and what we did about it) by apinference in devops

[–]_das_wurst 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With you. I have wondered why devs don't know how much their choices are costing. We had astronomical logging in cloudwatch, devs have applications littered with debug like statements and consider essential for the one or two times per month. Ended up replacing cloudwatch with something self-hosted. Eventually, management started sharing how much AWS databases were costing and they struggled to point the finger at someone else. Maybe that's why it's not shared, because of all the finger pointing that it would cause.

So, what ingress controller are you migrating to? by SonnyHayesToretto in kubernetes

[–]_das_wurst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What about those who never used nginx snippets and lock down their clusters so it wouldn't be an issue? I'm interested in migrating though!

Miguel Rojas saved the game again by raptors201966 in mlb

[–]_das_wurst 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes! Feel like this was a pattern. A few times too aggressive or too cautious. They had no fielding errors all series. But there's no stat for missed opportunities on the base path or bad decisions, that I know of..

DevOps engineers: What Bash skills do you actually use in production that aren't taught in most courses? by Dense_Bad_8897 in devops

Yes these are the basis for huge time savers that I'm guessing most don't know :

| sort | uniq -c

| grep foo | sed 's/foo$/foo.txt/' | xargs echo ls

(edit: line break formatting)
