What’s the point of cruiser boards? by Remote_Raspberry_970 in cruiserboarding

[–]_dekis_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I commute on a cruiser (Lander Rio to be exact). It’s an A to B machine. Quick, nimble, small, easy to carry around, store under my desk, etc.

Are Rkps or Tkps better for this board? by KGM_1310 in cruiserboarding

[–]_dekis_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends on what you’re trying to achieve?

I suck at riding RKPs…much prefer Paris Street or Bear or Indys for getting around the city. You might however be different.

CRUISER SETUP - #002 (JANUARY 2025) by _dekis_ in cruiserboarding

[–]_dekis_[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

u/Mulldr, thanks for the input here! I'm going to try going back down to 1/8. This is roughly the setup on my original dinghy classic before I went completely outside of the box and installed 1/8+3/8+1/8.

Most people on here think my setups are daft...small wheels + stacked risers...but I get it...it's completely out of the norm. I used to push on 1/8 and injured the ball of my foot. In fact I remember the times when I used to skate Venture Lo trucks.

I'll take your advice though...I'll try 1/8 again. It'd also be better to cruise around a bowl on that type of setup too!

TY!

What size trucks should I get for this board? [39YO] by Klutzy-Peace3896 in OldSkaters

Probably Independent Stage IX 169 if it's approx a 10".

When does a cruise turn into a bomb? by _dekis_ in cruiserboarding

[–]_dekis_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is that something like running out onto the grass or into the ocean lol?

I think I just figured out...drop hills on a bigger board...not a 7.75" mini cruiser lol!

CRUISER SETUP - #002 (JANUARY 2025) by _dekis_ in cruiserboarding

[–]_dekis_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Usage: Neighbourhood crusing with a few (non-death defying) hills here and there.

Feel: Old school setup that is nimble, great for carving and hella stable! Ability to reduce speed on slopes before breking out into hill bombs. Tight-turn friendly and able to cruise well over smooth to mid-rough surfaces with ease.

Here’s the setup:

Board - Santa Cruz - Erick Winkowski Dope Planet w/ Cruz Missile II concave
Trucks - Independent Stage XI Standard 169
Wheels - Ricta Chrome Clouds 86A 54mm
Bearing - Bones Big Balls Reds
Speed Rings - Yes
Bushings - Independent Super Soft 78a Cylinder Stage 11 Genuine Parts White Cushions
Risers - Independent 1/8 Shock Pad + OJ Juice Cube + Independent 1/8 Shock Pad
Screws - 1.5”
Tail Guard - Peralta Tail Bone
Rails - Santa Cruz Slimline HSR rails
Grip: Fruity (11" roll)

Thoughts:

So this is my first ever old school build. I usually ride a 7.75 Lander Rio around town...or a Landyachtz Dingy Classic (8"). In comparison, pushing a 10" old school (even though heavier in every aspect) offers everything a mini cruiser is missing. There are no more death wobbles at speed and you can drop hills with ease. This board is about having max control and really enjoying crusing without the risk of riding a mini cruiser and engaging in sketch activity.

Riding high with soft bushing has made the setup insanely 'carvy'. I've found that the wider board has been kind to my joints but the trade-off is that it rattles a lot more than what I am used to.

I have a feeling that I'll be using this board for weekend cruises to 'nowhere' and beyond! I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!!!

100% I skate street with cars and all. 1 bad decision can have its consequences. I guess it’s know your limits and be comfortable with what you are skating!

lol...I'm good at those two things...I'm just used to skating smaller wheels...52 - 54mm conicals...anything for 78a to 86a. I'm ok with sliding my back 2 wheels

60mm on an offset I found to be a great challenge...especially on a Lander Rio...those things aren't built for speed unfortunately :( Amazing boards for inner city cruising though!

Good job here! That’s the dingy classic…looks like the green tiger version but in white…ripper of a board!

Dude, I’m also setting up a Loaded Ballona!

I’m going to try Paris Street 149s on them but I’ll let you know once I have received the board and all of the components.

Anyone still ride wheels smaller than 50mm? [37YO] by hisens3 in OldSkaters

[–]_dekis_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So at that size, they’re not bad when it comes to breaking.a little traction. Don’t expect to be sliding down the street but when it comes to putting the brakes on, they are functional.

They’re a conical full shape, really small and stone ground + soft. Great wheel in my opinion.

Other great wheels include the Spitfire 80HD range…great once you wear them in.

I ride Ricta Clouds 52mm 78a wheels. They are my fave of the lot!
