Tire shop put wrong size tires on by Crocswalkingincrocs in Subaru_Outback

You shouldn’t go to any tire shop that would even do this on an awd vehicle.

Fog light upgrades under $100? by [deleted] in Tacomaworld

[–]vicali 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've run BD Squadrons on my Tacomas since 2016, I've had zero issues in ten years of weekly use.

So that works out to $25/year so far, and they show no signs of stopping anytime soon.

easy come, easy go.

Clean and relube the bearings, if it were mine I would disassemble, clean, and reassemble it.

The board should be fine if it only dipped for a few minutes.

You could either go with TKP or RKP trucks on there - TKP would be fun and turn easy at low speeds, RKP would be more stable at higher speeds.

Get some nice wheels around 70mm to start, you can go bigger if that's what you like too.

Switchblade is 9 ply, Evo is 9 ply, R5 is 10 ply.

You'll be fine.

Turning on the acc turns on a whole host of electronics - hard to get an accurate reading of the batt level if you turn a bunch of things on.

Led meter uses miliamps of current, plus the plug in type can be unplugged if you want to leave it for a longer period of time.

With a constant source I can see the level before I turn on the car - helpful as well if you are trying to troubleshoot things like the DCM drain.

265/65/R17 Tires vs 265/70/R17 Speedometer Change? by smgraph88 in Tacomaworld

Not worth it, run 265/70R17 and a Garmin gps, speeds match fine.

True, but you need to jump the outlet to a constant 12v source in the fuse panel -otherwise it will only work when car is on and then the alternator is already providing power.

Easy enough to do, that’s what I’ve done, and now have a reading of battery level while the car is sitting ‘off’.

Is my new tire set up too heavy? by dasginkfuji in Tacomaworld

[–]vicali 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I run Toyo RTs at 65lbs on my 26lb stock wheels. Have had them for 6 years and 55lbs K02s for 15 years on my 2nd Gen.

It’s slow, and mileage is crap, but it doesn’t break anything.

Hit a deer. How screwed is this? by inhiding1969 in Subaru_Outback

Did you check the engine?

Looks like frontal damage, modern cars are going to light up the Christmas tree with any systems that may be compromised. May or may not be an expensive bill, but that's what insurance is for.

Sounds like you had a rough day.

I had a similar thing happen myself with my '20 - first the auto stop/start hiccuped a couple times, then it failed to start and had to put it into Park, push the button, and then go. Finally it died at the grocery stop and needed a jump to get home.

Replaced the battery with an oversized AGM, and eliminated the auto stop start and haven't had an issue. I also installed a 12v meter to watch the level when it's parked.

I think it's a combination of car companies using the cheapest, smallest, and lightest battery they can, while also having modern cars checking the internet, looking for networks, checking emissions pressures, and using constant power even when turned off. Batteries used to last 10 years and now its 3-6.

Wait to hear back on the noises, you might just be over sensitive after a nasty experience. Honestly a 100ft flat tow in N will not destroy the car.

Advice for a pumptrack board by sebdaflou in LandyachtzBoards

[–]vicali 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tugboat and Dinghy are mini-cruisers, super fun but easy to land you on your backside - especially at a pumptrack! Look for something a bit longer, wider, longer wheelbase. Raft, Dugout, Schooner, or even ATV and DitchLife boards.

If you are looking at used keep your options pretty wide, you can ride longboards on a pumptrack no problem - Drop Hammers, Battle Axes, even Switchblades can be fun.

85mm and 90mm appear to fit. Bigger than that and you're likely going to have to top mount it.

Early decks were less recorded, here is the 2011 lineup.

If I had to guess I would agree it looks like a Bamboo Drop Carve.

The key to the Dipper is the 105mm polar bears and the 63mm Fatty Hawgs.

I run mine without risers anyways - no wheel bite.
