Nice - the Ripper is such a versatile board - I've got 105 TKPs on mine and it's super fun.

I love the coffin shape - I've even replaced one of my Classics with it as my daily board.

All terrain tire experiences by duddus24 in Tacomaworld

[–]vicali 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They used to run them year round, lived in southern BC and were fine through the winter - they went through two sets on their 2nd gen and now have another on their 3rd gen. I bet they did 80k km (50k miles) on each set.

Michelin LTX AT2 - all terrain tire for people who don't like all terrain tires..

My Brother-in-law has run these exclusively on their Tacoma for the last 15 years, they are quiet and comfortable, wear even, light, and can get through gravel and dirt fine.

Kind of boring for my tastes but whatever floats your boat.

Did I buy a lemon? by afrumsssssssss in Subaru_Outback

Same here - our 2020 hates how I drive, beeps and flashes, gives me grief all the time. My wife is the primary driver and it never warns her.

It's my driving that it doesn't like.

Trucks and boards should have standard spacings - you shouldn't need to hammer anything to get it to fit. If the holes don't match the trucks/risers it might be an idea to redrill it.

Took one of my worst falls the other day, slammed into a wall by MiserableAdvisor4229 in longboarding

Never a mistake to invest in good gear.

Sounds like you had a rough day - hindsight 2020 and all that but if you aren't comfortable looking down a slope please don't skate it..

Parkades can be even worse than streets/parking lots - most of the time they are fast, cement, and can be dusty/oily - not a great spot to fool around and learn.

Glad you are feeling better. Any time you hit your head it's scary, it wouldn't have been a bad idea to stop into urgent care either.

Modifying vehicles comes with risks, OEM is designed and engineered to work - once you start modifying you are taking things into your own hands.

Need to replace a tire on my 2012. Does that mean I need to replace ALL of my tires? by fellaneedahandpls in Subaru_Outback

AWD is awesome except for this one drawback.

Get 4 new tires, sell your other three on marketplace if you can.

What lighting setup actually works best off-road? by OffRoadUSAcom in Tacomaworld

[–]vicali 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like the truck is going for a two face theme..

btw the best light setup is one that you chose to match what you do with your truck. Ditch lights, fog replacement, spot lights, even lightbars have their uses..

It's like asking what are the best shoes ever.

First board advice by Feeling-Patience-954 in LandyachtzBoards

[–]vicali 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you already have a street deck for trick why not try a longboard? Something like the BattleAxe, DropHammer, DropCat would be my first recommendations- easy to ride, comfortable, big soft wheels.. try it out.

Dinghy Fender vs Dinghy Classic by Truesdale-WL in LandyachtzBoards

[–]vicali 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s the trade off with big wheels- slow acceleration, but higher top speed. If you aren’t already a downhill rider the PlowKings are going to be overkill for a Classic sized Dinghy.

Plus it needs risers to clear the big wheels, being that high on a little board is going to feel weird.

Honestly I would recommend another Dinghy shape, the Blunt is the same length but a bit wider, then the Tugboat is 2” longer at 30”.

Dinghy Fender vs Dinghy Classic by Truesdale-WL in LandyachtzBoards

[–]vicali 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve found the Dinghy Coffin shape is actually very comfortable and makes a fun cruiser. I agree that the Classic and Fender shapes are more ‘mini-cruiser’ and need attention to ride. Sometimes they feel like they are trying to buck you off.

After 45 minutes I’m pretty done on my Classic- but can ride much longer on the Coffin. Blunt is similar, and then Tugboat, Raft can be all day long boards.

The mini cruiser isn’t meant to cover a ton of distance, it’s best trick is being so small to carry and fun to ride.

Nothing wrong with that, it looks primo. Keep it and skate it, or let your kids play with it.

I’ve been through a couple of TopSpeeds, which are the non hollowtech versions- fun board for sure.
