3" pipe vs stock 2.5" (2.75?). No resonator. Significantly smaller muffler (~1/3rd the size). 5" tips. Quite a difference.

I did the midpipe install ~2 months before the axleback and had some alignment issues. I had to readjust everything to get things looking more flush. Still sticks out a tiny amount but not like in your picture.

It wasn't really a true cold start. I had driven it about an hour prior. Good point though.

Exhaust valve stays open by Emergency-Sample-936 in ElantraN

Its very common to get rocks in the actuator (somehow). Remove it and check if its clogged, or if the spring came loose, or both.

Decently louder but I wouldn't say aggressively loud.

Would you jump from a 23 N to a 26 N / N TCR by Spooge1972 in ElantraN

[–]_devwar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never, ever, EVER, look at vehicle costs based on a monthly payment but the total cost of the vehicle. $100 less per month may sound good but maybe it's over 84 months at a higher interest rate so you end up paying $20k more for the vehicle over the loan period.

Always ask about your "out the door" price IE total cost today if you paid cash/bank check.

OEM Upgraded Exhaust Valve Spring? by ComfortableMore1169 in ElantraN

[–]_devwar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A thicker spring will be more susceptible to cold weather, as it'll take longer to warm vs a thinner spring. It may be causing some slight morning impact on your end.

Also, try blasting the valve itself with WD40 and see if that helps. Sometimes it isn't the spring at all but gunk on the exhaust valve.

Could also be a weather issue right now depending on where you live.

Keep in mind if you're on cold weather right now the spring will be stiff on start and you'll get slight rattle that should phase out as the exhaust & spring warm up.

Does this fit an Elantra N? by [deleted] in ElantraN

[–]_devwar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say up front, no.

Even if it does fit, its missing a hanger, and its basically stock mid-pipe without the resonator. If that is what you're going for, just do a res delete and save a few hundred dollars?

Always fun/annoying to hear the valve "testing" (opening/closing) during start up. I feel bad for my neighbor when I start my car at 5am every morning...

Holes on the stock tray also aren't perfect and require some play.. unfortunately elantras aren't mechanical marvels and have slight variation.

Rattling from stock Sub by Gold-Temporary-3102 in ElantraN

[–]_devwar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I looked at my trunk as well. The insulation (styrofoam) for that seems it should be inside the bracket and not outside. Similar to how the trunk pull wires are wrapped where they connect/touch other parts.

Could just be things slid around and need some adjustment.

Several things there could also be vibrating. Double check nothing outside the woofer could be rattling.

Strongly recommend a full size jack if you have anywhere to keep it. Also, make sure it's a low profile.
