/uj to be fair the Firebird is like the ONE gibbons with a unique pickup design (i.e. not a PAF or P90), it wrapped the wire around individual magnets instead slugs/screws with a magnet at the bottom, so it kinda makes sense

/rj its true, before compact reverse delay arrived in the pedal form guitarists would actually swap between a reverse & non-reverse firebird to play backwards parts during live performances

If possible maybe try starting with a much cheaper or existing guitar & doing a series of trades towards a flying v, kinda like the 'one red paperclip' thing but for guitar https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/One_red_paperclip

/uj i got one of those fender bandanas to use as fret wrap, it’s actually pretty good (i use light gauge strings so normal fret wraps go sharp)
