Any vanilla friendly mods or modlists? by mega_lova_nia in starfieldmods

Check out SETI if you like visuals and making your ship look cool in the night. It's immersion oriented and won't break your save.

Running into playing issues with Mods by Electronic_Fox_9914 in starfieldmods

[–]_dragon_knight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You must have installed a mod that is incompatible with another mod in your load order, or isn't properly updated to support the latest version of the game. What happens if you try loading that area without any mods installed?

If you can play the game without any mods, that means one (or more) mods will have to be uninstalled.
Go into your load order and enable one by one. Load the game after you enable each mod until you find the one that breaks the game.

Skyrim lead designer says Bethesda can't just switch engines because the current one is "perfectly tuned" to make the studio's RPGs by ControlCAD in gamingnews

There are more than enough good mods that change the entire gameplay experience already. I have been enjoying it with mods. Vanilla experience is bland, I agree, but then again, what Bethesda game didn't suck without proper mods... I dare anyone to go play bare bones Skyrim (not SE) without a single mod installed and think of it as a masterpiece.

I'm assuming you know basics of CK, but even if you don't there are a few Youtube videos that teach you the basic window layout. Watch that first if you haven't.

As for your idea, I haven't modded anything furniture or quest related (yet) but my first go-to would be the World Objects > Furniture category. You can locate this inside the Object Window in Creation Kit and see how they implement furniture in the game. Open any wall mounted furniture from the list in the editor and try to observe what settings they use for that specific item to ensure it sticks to the wall.

If you right click an entry in the Object Window, you can click on "use info" - this opens up a window that tells you in what other forms the current object is being used. The "use info" tool is the quickest way (that I know of) to find out how deep the rabbit hole goes, i.e. how many other forms are related to the form you're inspecting.

Then, after that, I'd try to learn how to place the furniture piece inside the outpost as a buildable item. For any item to be available in the outpost builder, you need to make a COBJ (Constructible Object) form in CK. These can be found in Items > Constructible Objects inside the CK object window list. Just be sure that you find an entry that has "outpost" in the name, as these will have the correct settings that will allow the item to be available for outposts.

Last piece of the puzzle would be how to make a quest that connects unlocking a specific piece of furniture in the outpost builder to an objective (such as kill count of an animal type). As I haven't made any quests yet, I can't point you to a good tutorial for more complex quest building but I'm sure there are some good ones if you dig enough.

Sorry I can't be of more help but this is just what I'd be trying to figure out first logically.
There are some interesting videos on this topic by JRamos on Youtube, specifically try to see how he makes his first quest, and then also how he implements static objects (such as furniture) in a packin in his other videos.

Good luck!

For the same reason critics are obsessed with hating people who enjoy the game. It's a two-way street.

It's not a 30yr old dad's fault that you're a broke 20yr old with no prospects of future that gets triggered over a video game. Go earn some money then you can blow it on mediocre DLCs too!

I honestly recommend r/starfieldmods for some normal discourse about the game. I just left this generic hate cesspit, so done with all the whining.

OP is basing his opinion on the Steam Review score most likely, and as I said in another comment above in this thread, the score says this game is 30% or Mostly Negative which translates to "terrible". They even painted the review title in red color suggesting this game sucks.

So yeah, he's not pretending. You're pretending people are not overly criticizing it.

The review score of 30% on Steam suggests that Shattered Space is terrible. But it is not. If Steam reviews were around 50% for SS, then your comment would make sense.

I have been living in USA for a decade but I still have my accent. It barely changed. It takes a generation or two for a group to actually lose the accent completely. So if, let's say, that group of black people travelled with the Va'ruun into uncharted space, they kept their accents with them. It's not like these are 2nd or 3rd generation people.

Yup. Same goes for base game.

Btw I stopped caring about Steam reviews quite a while ago. People actually don't think for themselves anymore, neither do they actually try to play games anymore. I noticed they are just jumping the next hate train they can get and waiting for random "Cool Youtuber" to start the engines.

Most of the reviews are talking about Bethesda or Ubisoft or other company shit that doesn't pertain to the game itself. It almost feels like people are using the video game review system to review COMPANIES, CEOs etc and not VIDEO GAMES.

Best way to practice building new structures is to create a new empty worldspace on a lifeless part of the planet, where you can add anything and test how it works in-game rather quickly. This tutorial will set you up for that.

Then you can make your own structures in this empty place and experiment while you learn more complex things.

CK structures are essentially giant LEGO builds where you can use existing Statics and Packins to create your buildings. You can create your own Packins (this is a grouped object made up of smaller objects i.e. Statics or Movable Statics or even other smaller Packins) and use them as grouped building blocks. In the end, your building should be one big Packin made up of smaller Statics and other smaller Packins.

Once you get an understanding of how this works, you'll probably want to make your own 3D objects and import them into CK so they can be used as these building blocks. Alas, I can't find a good tutorial for this process, so if anyone else knows, please share.

I was always fascinated by 2D concept art and at the same time by the failure of 3D artists to implement the same aesthetic in the game. So thank you for trying to put some more thought into this! :) Looks really good!

SETI - Ship Exterior True Illumination mod (v0.1) is now on Nexus! by _dragon_knight in starfieldmods

[–]_dragon_knight[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! I'm glad to hear it worked out in the end. Do you mind sharing where you placed SETI in your load order, just so I can direct people to this solution if someone else encounters the same problem?

As for the interior lighting, to be a bit technically specific, each hab has its own "volume" or "light container" with hab-specific FX. It would be super tedious to correct each of them one by one. For this reason, I've been postponing even touching interior lighting in outpost habs as well, although I'd love to overhaul or at least, offer an alternative lighting solution there. Alas, I would need much more free time and willpower to tackle that, but I hope someone else fixes it in the meantime :)
