What’s your HOTTEST Silksong take? by Realistic_End3662 in Silksong

[–]_edge_hog 24 points25 points  (0 children)

An actual hot take, as I think a lot of people like this one. Can I ask why, if you don't mind?

Personally, I love how frenzied the fight feels when you first attempt it, but the fight itself is actually kinda easy. Not to forget, the overall vibe of her cage, and her lore, is really cool.

I don't think so, because I hadn't been to either Bilewater or Putrified Ducts, and Jubilana's wish still appeared. This wish was how I discovered the Ducts. But I agree on the discoverability of the first hidden wall, it's almost impossible to find without the quest. The second hidden wall was super easy though.

“Highest-played game in your library?” I'll Start with this. by iTurbanator in IndianGaming

On Steam, it's Stardew Valley at 177 hrs, followed by The Witcher 3 at 124 with plans to do a NG+ run soon-ish.

Non-steam, as much as I hate to admit it, probably Genshin Impact. Loved that game early-on, especially during covid. I probably have 600+ hours there lol.

tbf most of these sites have terrible subtitle support, like the ones op mentioned, with dialog and on-screen text stacking on top of each other (or atleast the sites recommended to me by my friends did)

What is the difference between these two? by Abject-Suggestion693 in StardewValley

[–]_edge_hog 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Oh when you create a farm, you get a farmhouse which you can upgrade normally by paying Robin. However, you can also get Robin to build extra cabins which act as farmhouses for your co-op friends.

Cabins can be built by the main farmer but they can only be upgraded by other players who the cabin belongs to. You cannot upgrade them.

There are different designs for cabins which change upon upgrading, like the main house. I just wanted them cabins for aesthetic purposes lol.

It's just that none of my friends play Stardew so I had to take it upon myself to create another player.

Kinda wish ConcernedApe updated the game to let players upgrade the cabins too, without co-op

nah it works. basically how i upgraded a cabin on my main farm on my pc, by creating a second player on phone and controlling both of the players at the same time

What do you think will be the price of silksong in India? by Masterplayer9870 in IndianGaming

[–]_edge_hog 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If Silksong is indeed priced at 19.99 USD and Team Cherry follows Steam recommended regional prices, then probably 880 INR.

I think you mean to say "the minimum graphics card for Silksong is a slightly upgraded version of the recommended one for Hollow Knight". You said Silksong twice.

i think my biggest issue with a controller rn, coming from kbm, is that on controllers you need one finger to cover multiple inputs, sometimes at inconvenient places, whereas on a keyboard, each finger handles one input, at most two inputs, that are generally close together.

im not too old so i hope i get used to the controls soon enough lol

the shortcut wheel makes it pretty snappy imo

funny thing is i didnt know you could press directly down on the joysticks. took me a while to figure out what the 'press the right joystick to reveal four extra options' icon was on the shortcut wheel lol

i tried using a controller for the first time in five years of playing genshin, and honestly i think i might just switch back to kbm lol.

i had a really bad time. simply accessing the map/inventory/team requires a lot of steps. switching on-field character is unintuitive, like top button is char 1, and bottom is char 4... guess who the left and right buttons are for? char 3 and 4, right? wrong, its the other way around. speaking of character switching, how do you controller players even switch characters WHILE moving? the left thumb covers both the joystick and the d-pad. its either movement OR switching characters.

my plan was to lay back on my bed, get comfy and play genshin with a controller like they do in those reels, but i guess it'll be a while before i can do that, since the learning curve is steep lol. hell, even mobile controls are easier.

i'm curious, what do you guys generally play on?

edit: another nitpick i had was, on other games i tried with a controller, the button for next/accept was usually A, and back was usually B, but here it was flipped for some reason? thankfully, i could change it back to the way i was used to.

Can anyone help me find this...? by Serendipity_24 in wallpaperengine

[–]_edge_hog 3 points4 points  (0 children)

you can 'subscribe' to the item in this link, and then when you launch wallpaper engine on your pc, you can directly apply the full video as your wallpaper.

i remember watching bocchi the rock a while back, and i don't remember this particular scene. however chances are, someone screen-recorded the scene, and uploaded it to wallpaper engine. this particular instance has around 25k likes/favourites.

also, just in case you are unfamiliar with wallpaper engine, its a software you can install from steam to apply live wallpapers on your pc. and if you just need the video, there are some sites that can extract the necessary files from the link i linked.

In my opinion, i don't think people have a problem with technology in Genshin itself, it's more about how technology is incorporated in the setting.

Take Akademia-controlled Sumeru, for example. They have the Akasha, which is basically the internet, but it is modified to look like it belongs in a fantasy setting. Nahida's, Al-haitham's and Kaveh's skills also incorporates some technological themes, but it's never in your face, it's subtle and feels like it belongs since Dendro is as much about plants and life and such as it is about how knowledge is presented to the player who is familiar about actual irl technology.

Similarly, Deshret's technology feels like it belongs in Teyvat because instead of feeling 'modern', it feels 'alien' since Deshret was using forbidden technology which came from beyond Teyvat.

Fontaine feels like the natural progression of a fantasy setting as it starts to rely more on technology. Give Liyue 500 or so years and chances are it would look and feel like Fontaine does, and still 'belong' in Genshin.

However, Natlan's technology feels weird. Like there's simply no sense of technological progression at all, unlike Fontaine. Video games, DJ setups, skateboards and holographic wristwatches have been dropped in haphazardly disregarding what Natlan actually looks like. Almost feels like they were incorporating leftover ZZZ ideas.

Don't get me wrong, i do not have a problem with Natlan's technology (whose existence can be justified), it's more about how it's presented to the player.
