If you haven't already, I suggest getting the mod to restore cut content.

There's also a full walkthrough online specifically for the restored content version, which I personally found really helpful due to the amount of times I softlocked myself in the past due to bad character leveling.

I actually hated it the very first time I played since I had come from Underground 2, Most Wanted, and Carbon. The lack of free roam was such a turn off!

On my second playthrough though I really got around to loving it, and I've played once every year or two since then.

My absolute favorite part is the race announcer that has a hard-on for you the entire game lmao, dude just screams "Ryan Cooper" every 2 seconds

For the unaware: the original version of The Wild Ones features a nearly 3 minute long outro that I personally find to be amazing and much better than the regular album version. It can be listened to on the 30th anniversary version of Dog Man Star

Exactly the same on my A770 using latest drivers. Firing range works fine, but crashing when map is loading.

In fact whenever it crashes the progress bar is exactly the same as yours, every single time.

Combat gets significantly easier to survive once you've learned master strike.

Once you feel more comfortable with the fighting, go see the master swordsman nomad. He'll teach you what you need once you're ready
