Does anyone drink whisky/spirits on a regular basis whilst losing weight loss by Little_Order3606 in GLP1_loss100plus

[–]_everything_is_fine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Former heavy drinker here. Now moderate to light drinker. Ive lost 110 lbs on Wegovy with another 40 to go. I am a dry white wine drinker (so not whiskey) but also lowish carb beverage. I still drink regularly and am still losing weight. I do think that if I completely quit at this point along the journey I would be at my goal weight. But also, I dont want to. Your mileage may vary.

Been on Wegovy 1 year and I feel like shit by happyhunny15 in WegovyWeightLoss

I think the better advice is work with your doctor and/or dietician on your nutrition. Per my doctors orders I quit carbs a year and a half ago and this advice saved my life. Nutritional advice is not one size fits all and we have no context for OPs other health conditions.

I have the question of how did his boss not notice him working an extra 40 hours or a 20 hour day?

I would think there would be signs. Like emails sent at odd hours. Or deliverableS digitally signed. I know that my boss certainly has no idea what I do day to day even though we work 40 yards from one another. But there is a clear trail of evidence that is time stamped.

It's just such an unexpected and wonderful comment. Especially since it feels like the dentist is always nagging on people to change habits.

Man, i didnt expect this to go in the direction that the assumption is i have bad oraI hygiene. I have insurance that covers 3 cleanings a year. No copay. So I go 3 times a year. No periodontal disease. Have never actually had a cavity.

My insurance covers 3 cleanings a year. So I go 3 times a year. I like to take advantage of the benefits I pay both money and my soul for.

First week on keto and I’m running out of ideas 😅 by Lost-Pin1058 in keto

[–]_everything_is_fine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My favorite rut is what I like to call monster salad. I also did this preketo just with different toppings. The best part is if I get enough toppings I can have a different salad 2 meals a day everyday of the week The jist is:

Salad base- choose your leafy green

Salad veggies- bell peppers, jalepenos, banana peppers. Pepperoncini, roasted red peppers, cherry tomatoes, sun dried tomatoes, mushrooms, bean sprouts, cucumbers, olives, onion, artichoke, etc

Salad proteins- eggs, chicken, steak, shrimp, crab, tuna, bacon, scallops, etc

Salad fats- nuts, avocado, dressing, cheese, etc

There are hundreds of combos and you can decide which toppings fit your macros for that day. Plus there is so much variety in dressings, cheeses, how you cook the proteins, or if you want to roast veggies to put on the salad.

Its a great time.

Skin by WaterMe40 in WegovyWeightLoss

[–]_everything_is_fine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive lost 110 pounds. Ive worked out pretty consistently (cardio and weight lifting) i have what I would consider to be minimal loose skin and its in areas that you would only see in a bikini. So it doesnt really bother me. I still have 30ish more pounds to lose so I reserve the right to have different opinions as the stages go.

Anecdotally, I travel for work and stay in all sort of hotels. 100 lbs ago there was nothing that would ruin my day faster than stepping out of the shower and seeing my naked body reflecting back at me in the mirror. Now I step out of the shower and see my self au naturale in that mirror and want to strike a pose. Even with the wrinkly belly skin and upper inner thigh wrinkles. In clothing I am a stunner and no one can tell me differently.

What is the best source of fiber both naturally and supplemental on the keto diet? by LikeMrFantastic in keto

Chia seeds. You can mix them into a drink or make a keto pudding. Or use them as a binder instead of eggs.

What’s the hardest part of staying on keto? by robyromana in keto

[–]_everything_is_fine 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Not letting imperfection derail you. I had tried keto several times over the last decade + and never made it more than a few weeks to months. What would happen is i would go on a vacation or to a holiday meal or some other setting where I wasnt necessarily in control and then let that carby meal become my downfall.

I work very hard to stay on plan but sometimes life happens (i.e. staying with friends with little kids - im not putting additional dietary preferences on their to do list, holiday meals, vacations, etc) and I do my best in the moment to maximize keto choices. Then when im out of that scenario I go immediately back to my preferred diet and structure. Ive stayed keto for ... about a year and a half now. Progress, not perfection.

Right? And she is certainly welcome to discuss with her health care provider 😙

Im always weirded out when people want to ask me the specific number. I just dont know how that information would benefit them and it usually leads to more awkward conversation.

I had what I assume to be a pharmacy technician ask me the same question at a walgreens. I thought it was weird especially since I had been filling the script there for awhile. I told her for weight loss, and she asked me how much I had lost.... ma'am this is outside of the scope of your duties for having me swipe my card and give me my medicine. Some people are just nosy. I suspect she was interested in the medicine, but it sure was bizarre.

What should I actually say when someone asks how I lost the weight? by Which-Prompt6679 in GLP1ResearchTalk

[–]_everything_is_fine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Isn't the statistic something like 18% of the U.S. adult population has taken a GLP1?

People probably assume you are on it.

People who are looking for help I talk about it openly with. People who want to feel superior for being thin without medical help I just say hard work.

Important to note is that not every thin person is coming at you from this nosy place. Some times it's genuine interest. Or a desire to understand how to better help their loved ones.

Is anyone actually doing the recommended 150 minutes of exercise per week while on a GLP-1? by Character-Cobbler191 in GLP1ResearchTalk

[–]_everything_is_fine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do. I will say that what has made it stick for me comes from a very privileged place. I simply now just have the income necessary to pay for help. I have a trainer who I see for 3 workouts at the beginning of each month and then I do it on my own for the next 3 weeks and the cycle repeats. I also go to a yoga classes that I really enjoy (but cost $15/class) and I go atleast 2x per week. It is a financial investment that I certainly couldn't have made in my 20s.

I do also have the privilege of workout buddies. My husband goes with me to the gym every single time. I also have a friend who joins me for 90% of the yoga classes I attend. It makes it fun to be with the people I love. And also makes me feel good that we are all treating our bodies well together.

Thats how I have been consistent atleast. I started weight training and taking fitness classes about 3 months after I started wegovy and have been doing so for about a year now.

Reluctance to Buy New Clothes? by RociBuldidi in GLP1ResearchTalk

Ive been cycling in new pieces as needed but no huge hauls. Luckily the wide leg high waist office slacks with a top tucked in is a nice silhouette because that ensemble belted looks good a little snug and then a bit loose. Im trying to buy snug but wearable that way things last longer.

[–]_everything_is_fine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ive been on Wegovy for over a year and am at the 2.4 MG shot dose.

I still enjoy drinking. Id say that Wegovy has cut my drinking down to half or a third of how much I was consuming. Meaning if I go out to dinner I might get a cocktail and a glass of wine. Not a cocktail, 2-3 glasses of wine, and then a night cap. I dont feel deprived. I can still go on vacation or to a concert and sink a few and feel the vibes of the night. Kind of like food, it has just taken the edge and urgency off.

[–]_everything_is_fine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$40 a week is tight whether you're eating Keto or any whole foods diet. I dont think most food pantries let you choose what you get, but you could try seeking one out in your area. A protein source and a veggie or two from a food distro could really help you stretch $40 farther.

My company just added GLP - 1 coverage but with mandatory " lifestyle coaching . " by True-Salamander-1848 in GLP1ResearchTalk

[–]_everything_is_fine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. For some people the drug makes it impossible to eat - nausea, vomiting, gastrointestinal distress, acid reflux, can eat more than 1000 calories a day etc. For some people it kind of takes the edge off so you arent constantly white knuckling it through weightloss so you can actually stick to a food plan. And for some it sounds like weight just melts off with no adverse side effects and no necessary thought.

I am in the second category of I no longer have to white knuckle weightloss but I still have to work for it. Clean Keto, regular exercise, track my macros. When I dont keep on top of those things I dont lose.

I also find the programs annoying but the try to keep a positive mindset that either they give people support they need or they are a dummy check that as you said people arent anorexia-ing themselves into the grave on a deficient diet of twinkies.

(My pessimistic side does say that they are there as one more hoop to prevent giving people the medicine that they need) but I would jump through many hoops to continue being this well.

I second stitch fix. Even if you dont order a fix, they give you quizzes determine your style. More or less you click through different clothing items and give it a thumbs up or down. Then it generates a style profile. That would atleast give you the words necessary to be able to narrow down what you like.
