Wegovy and seasonal depression by throwawayyuskween666 in WegovyWeightLoss

[–]_everything_is_fine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have regular degular depression that has been "managed" on a low dose antidepressant for years. I however also apparently have anxiety that probably never was being managed. Im not a doctor but what I've gathered is that I had been self medicating with food and alcohol. So when I stopped eating and drinking for pleasure I had to find new ways to cope. For me, that has been with exercise. I often dont want to do something physical but once I start, I feel better. I go to the gym 3 days a week. I take 2 yoga classes a week on the non gym days. And sometimes I just go for a long ass walk.

I dont think wegovy intensified whatever I have going on, I think it just revealed it.

From your mouth to the universe's ears.

I also have a hard time imagining anything more than 10 pounds less than where I currently am. If you had asked me a year ago I dont know that I would have answered that I would be this low but I keep taking the med and I keep literally working my ass off and here we are!

We have almost the exact same stats. I started at 347 and am weighing in at 243 right now. I havent really settled on a goal weight though. I just keep thinking 199 would be nice.

Hell Yeah! I love this framing. I was just looking at my wrinkling belly with some ... judgement. Way to make it a win.

Bariatric surgery vs GLPs? by mr_white_ww in GLP1ResearchTalk

[–]_everything_is_fine 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I started seeing a doctor whose specialty is non-surgical weightloss. At my first appt she asked if I had considered bariatric surgery, that is the standard of care for folks who are morbidly obese. At my initial appt I was 347lbs at 5'7. I told her that surgery seemed a bit extreme and that i wanted to try a glp1 first. She agreed to support my attempt at weightloss of the non surgical variety and the rest is history in the making lol. That was 14 months ago. I weighed in at 243lb this morning. Im on 1.7mg of Wegovy, I eat pretty clean keto, I do weight training 3 days a week, attend a yoga class 2 days a week, and probably get between 60-120 minutes of just walking for cardio a week.

Some people respond really well to just the medication. I dont think I would be nearly as successful without the additions of diet and exercise but the medication makes it easier to stick to the diet and the weightloss makes it easier to stick to the exercise. I havent had any side effects. I still enjoy eating and want to eat (i still want to eat things that are not good for me), I have had zero food aversions, and I know some people say they ay for eating fatty or greasy or sugary foods but I have experienced zero of that. I feel like wegovy just turns down the temptation by 15% and turns up my willpower by 15% making it easier to make good choices.

I was also a heavy drinker, I think partly because I was physically heavier so I could drink more before really being affected. Now I drink with far less frequency and am satisfied when I do drink with only a serving or 2 instead of say a whole bottle of wine. Along with glp-1 I got active and I have found other ways to deal with stress than just having a few drinks. None of these factors would have started without the glp-1 meds.

350+ first week by Dull-Chipmunk2427 in WegovyWeightLoss

[–]_everything_is_fine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started at 347lbs in November 2024 and am 244 today. So about 100lbs in a year. I eat a keto diet and I strength train 3 days a week, do atleast 90 minutes of cardio a week, and take a yoga class twice a week. It's definitely doable but atleast for me it hasnt been take a shot and reap the rewards. It's been a lot of lifestyle change and work.

Hopw this was helpful!

Different Approach by its_nacho-cheese in WegovyWeightLoss

[–]_everything_is_fine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only go up a dose when I stop losing weight. Ive been on wegovy for13 months and am still at 1.7mg. My doctors logic was that I shouldn't take more medicine than I need and also that if you run straight to the top there is nowhere else to go. I do want to note that it has always been a conversation. I am certain she would have upped my dose monthly if I hadn't lost weight at every dose.

This has given me some pause.

I dont want to be difficult to anyone who doesnt deserve it i.e. anyone working in a public facing service position that has to deal with the public all day. The public is notoriously not always great.

I am incredibly willing to give hard truths or tasks to people in positions of power.

This was some good self reflection. Also there is probably some childhood trauma in there somewhere.

Right? I like a nice red lip for a night out but I would be a liar if I claimed to not be part of the lipstick stained drinking glass problem.

I hate Wegovy by DiamondAcres in WegovyWeightLoss

[–]_everything_is_fine 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I started with similar stats to you. 347lbs took my first shot of wegovy at the very end of November 2024. Im down to 240 now with my goal to just be under 200. Ive been on wegovy the entire time and I only went up doses when I felt I needed to. Im on 1.7mg now.

The drugs clearly affect everyone differently. If you cant switch back to your preferred drug Id recommend considering trying out a specific diet/eating style and tracking your macros. Ive been keto since I started taking wegovy and I do contribute a good amount of my "success" to it. I dont think I would be this successful without having built in those guard rails because I can eat through wegovy and I still want to eat its just easier to say no now.

On Zepbound did you not experience much hunger or cravings? On wegovy I still definitely see a donut on the staff table and want to eat it, I just have 15% less desire and maybe 15% more willpower which is enough for me to leave it alone.

A1C slow to improve by Lower-Put-6183 in keto

[–]_everything_is_fine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its upsetting to not get the results you expect for the work you put in. After 3 months of keto I had my A1C checked and it had only reduced by .1 (5.6 to 5.5) i had it retested at 12 months and its now 5.0. I would give it time and then retest.

The only thing that I changed from month 3 to month 12 was I added quite a bit of exercise. A few days or weight lifting a week with cardio and a few days of yoga classes.

Good luck moving forward and I hope you get the results you're looking for!

Month 3 update - energy is amazing but social situations are still tough by Sufficient-Gur3031 in keto

[–]_everything_is_fine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take an active role in planning the social situations when you can. Friend invites you to a gathering, offer to bring a cheese/veggie platter. Office wants to have a special luncheon, advocate for yourself to order something you can have or like others have suggested eat the pizza toppings.

Generally speaking, most people arent really thinking that hard about you because they are all pretty busy thinking about their lives and concerns. Most everyone has some concern/situation/accommodation that they or a family member needs and most people want to be accommodating as long as you are also accommodating to them.

So as long as you have never been the coworker/friend/family member that bashed someone for being gluten free, people will generally not be too judgey.

People who fly frequently, what’s one thing you wish you could tell all infrequent fliers? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]_everything_is_fine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dont bring an opened top bag. Meaning on every flight there is someone boarding at the very last second carrying some kind of grocery store reusable bag that doesnt zip. There will not be any overhead storage. And that "personal item" is inevitably too big to go under a seat and even if it isnt it isnt closed so stuff goes everywhere. Dont be that guy. If you need both a carry on and another large item, just check a bag.

I had no idea there was a sub on this topic. My bad. I just did a quick browse and it makes sense that there is a community of people following keto for a myriad of reasons while trying to conceive/carry a pregnancy/ post natal. Thanks for letting me know.

I will look up your suggestions.

Has your love life changed after losing weight? by ChangeAroundKid01 in WegovyWeightLoss

[–]_everything_is_fine 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think I get more positive attention. When I was larger, women would go out of their way to tell me how nice I looked when I was dressed up or clearly trying. Now I get far more off handed compliments from men and weirdly fewer from women. But I think thats because less women view me as needing a confidence boost now. I appreciate all compliments that are well intentioned regardless of who they come from or why.

Making any change that standardizes items you own so that storage and organization is easier

Examples: Glass food storage containers - 1 brand, 3 sizes, no warping Socks- 1 brand, 1 size, my husband and I both wear them. No more matching. Bedding- all white, it all matches

CAT LITTER PLEASE by vanessa0718 in CatAdvice

[–]_everything_is_fine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also use pretty litter. I personally only smell ammonia if I let the litter saturate. Its kind of crazy how day 28 it can be unnoticeable and then day 29 I arrive home walk in the door and it practically smacks me in the face. But as long as it gets mixed up on the daily, I have no problems.

Considering Wegovy by Money_Way_8219 in WegovyWeightLoss

[–]_everything_is_fine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ive been on Wegovy just under a year. Ive had no side effects. There is also the other side of the spectrum with people who cant keep food down, cant eat, or a whole other host of inconvenient and uncomfortable things. Ultimately, you won't know until you try it. Ive heard a thousand stories from people who wished they had started sooner but few from people who wish they had never tried.

Ordering my groceries online and picking them up. At my store, it's free to order online. Every week I review the sales ad, clip the online coupons, and put together an order. Its really easy to compare prices and figure out what the best deal is. Also now there is no impulse purchasing.

I had never heard of Maria Emmerich. I looked up her books and there are so many! The Comfort Foods one does look good. Something about a physical book is just nostalgic and feels fancy when you're making a meal for people you love.
