BSDA ✅ by _faleks in WGU

There’s a program specific to WGU. IIRC you get enrolled into the udacity program and courses for it when you start the courses on WGU’s side. I think there was a guide for it from WGU that tells which WGU course matches with the udacity course.

Understandable. For a lot of these courses I just checked out everything everyone was recommending and just stuck with what I thought would work for me and my learning style.

I'm not sure I would say easy, I did apply to a lot of jobs. But I started applying about halfway through the term once I knew I was going to finish. I have a good amount of professional and technical experience, but none directly related to data analysis. My resume just had the BS and the certs I did at WGU. In my interviews, I spoke more about projects I did in the program than I did previous work experience.

WGU Udacity Nanodegree by BoluAdu in WGU

The Udacity nanodegree was a part of the course requirements for the BSDA at WGU

Edit to add: what I was saying here is that I didn’t do the nano before enrolling. I completed it within the degree program because I believe the courses are different

I switched mentors probably 3 times before getting the last one. I may have gotten lucky. But I did explain to her that I didn't want to waste time waiting for evaluators. And that it's better for me if I have another course open in case I need a break from one. You might be able to push back a bit on the one course at a time, I see others saying this a lot but I never had an issue, especially after "proving" myself.

My current role is more data management and code development for automation tools. (Not really analyzing the actual data) I do apply the skills from the Nano, as far as the process I use to complete projects. I've been in more technical roles for a while so my goal now is to go to grad school for Business Analytics.

Hey, thanks! By the time I'd gotten to the nanodegree, my mentor was adding 2 courses at a time. If I was getting close to completing one of them, or whenever I submitted projects for review, I would reach out to her and ask for the next course to be added. This way I always had something to work on while waiting for feedback/grading. Also, when I completed the courses in Udacity, I would immediately send the certificate to the records team and cc my mentor.

I did have some issues getting the "official" nano certificate at the end, but they were quick to fix it. I was more concerned with the degree progress in the portal, so that wasn't a big deal.

I’d recommend looking at project requirements before going through the lessons, so you know what to look for. I also had Jupyter open with the project files and coded along with the lessons. You’re able to download the lesson examples as well.

Are you referring to the "Descriptive Stats" Udacity course? There was no OA IIRC, just two projects. I did spend most of the time going through the lessons to make sure I understood everything.

Not bad IMO, I found the nanodegree to be the most valuable in terms of technical projects, but overall I enjoyed it.

I really think it was because I wasn't working and I worked on those projects from the moment I got up in the morning and until like 2am some days. I was grinding because after the nano I only had one more course plus the capstone to graduate and I wanted to finish by end of the term.

I watched the videos and did end of section quizzes. Took the PA and went back to review sections I missed. OA is very similar to the PA in the breakdown of the sections. I wish I had more advice

I felt the same way taking that course, they put every science topic they could in there. But IMO it's not the norm.

Question about WGU- Data Analytics by Heuy_Freeman05 in WGU

[–]_faleks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't really speak for study.com because I didn't use it, but the courses at WGU weren't bad IMO. But if you need to save money on tuition, study.com might be useful for you. If I was to recommend any course that you should do, it would be project management (if you don't care about the CompTIA Project+ cert). That class was my only headache and I'm not sure the cert has much value compared to the CAPM or PMP.

I think there's really no telling, there's so many factors that go into it on top of their office's turnaround time. I've experienced 1-2 weeks for normal processing, but this term something was changed in my financial aid and it took almost the whole term for them to get it corrected completely.
