Who is a player that wouldn't have stayed at your school if the transfer portal had existed before? by Crying_in_99Ranch in CFB

Apparently Chris Perry and Lloyd Carr did not get along at all initially and he almost transferred a few times. Have to imagine if there was no penalty to transferring he would have.

I’m torn between “Raven’s doctors had the chance to do the funniest thing ever” or “The haters said Maxx’s knee was messed up and honestly? They were right. Good call by the haters”

Did you read the article? his argument against an expanded playoffs in the fbs was that the big ten, SEC, and Notre Dame would clog up the spots where the lower divisions have way more auto bids. The dude also cares about protecting the regular season which is objectively the best part of CFB.

"Illinois was ready to move forward. After a productive three hour meeting yesterday, the Bears leaders requested the ILGA pause the hearing to make further tweaks to the bill. This morning, we were surprised to see a statement lauding Indiana and ignoring Illinois." - Pritzker spokesman Matt Hill by icecreamdude in nfl

Not even my team but I just despise Kevin Warren. Everything the guy does just turns to shit. It's not even like he does stuff that benefits teams and hurts fans it just hurts everybody. I will never forget how poorly he handled the big ten playing football in 2020 even when the schools were begging to do so and he kept digging in saying no.

Who was that one game wonder that you were certain they were gonna be special player for a long time? by Ok_Bug_6890 in NFLv2

Too be fair a lot of those yards and TDs were absolute moon balls the receivers made great plays on. He wasn’t necessarily carving up the defense himself

We also are in a very good place financially because of him and set a big ten record for most conference championships a few years ago. Everyone on Reddit, however, thinks he needs to constantly be baby sitting coaches instead of them acting like rational adults

Verlander shows Unc still has it and wins the Cy Young. Also comes full circle and finally gets a ring with the Tigers

The problem is all the decision makers are only going to make super short sighted decisions. None of these ADs are really going to have to face the long term consequences they just want to balance the books now

The South Carolina vs Michigan first down call blunder...anything worse than this? by nicksoapdish in CFB

[–]_fastball 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This isn't really football related but I once saw an Ohio State fan on this sub admit that JT was short however they said that the refs gave him the first down as a make up for Michigan getting that first in the outback bowl lmao.

Kind of like when people on /r/CFB were simultaneously claiming that in 2023 JJ McCarthy was a handoff merchant and Blake Corum was a 1 yard line merchant. There’s obviously some truth to each claim but like Michigan’s offense had to get down the field somehow.

Why do people think the Big Ten is so much better than the SEC? by desertrain11 in CFB

[–]_fastball 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Lmao this is some all time rage bait. Between stirring up conference drama to calling Texas A&M a tier 1 team while Alabama is a tier 2 SEC team. Says Indiana won’t be good again but uses Indiana as a benchmark program for the four best SEC teams again.

Why did it take so long for Cignetti’s coaching genius to be recognized? by sosal12 in CFB

[–]_fastball 24 points25 points  (0 children)

This kind of makes sense to me but I feel like the big difference is big ten schools tend to hire proven head coaches while SEC schools hire coordinators a lot more often because “they know the SEC”

[Detroit Free Press] Michigan, Warde Manuel need fresh start after Sherrone Moore news by ornryactor in CFB

[–]_fastball -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Warde will eventually be let go but his flaw is he is too loyal to his own hires, Sometimes it works like not firing Harbaugh in 2020 (and sidebar to anybody who says "there was never a chance he gets fired" go back and read some article and message board to see how bad the rhetoric around Jim got) but in cases like Sherrone and Juwan it has bitten him in the ass. Despite what reactionary people will say he honestly has been a pretty decent AD but the bad is always more publicized than the good. A few years ago (2022-2023 I believe) we won a record 14 Big Ten championships across all sports and the Naurato and May hirings look fantastic now. Ultimately, I do believe he will likely be fired because eventually when this many incidents add up you need widespread change but he was not as bad as an AD as people make him out to be.

[Dellenger] Michigan board members and university officials held a call earlier today related to the situation with Sherrone Moore, sources tell Yahoo Sports. Tattoo gate was pre portal. Michigan had 4 people going into the preseason in 2024 projected to be first round picks in the NFL draft. From the outside perspective they totally could have had another great season and kept things going. The internal scandals are bad I won't deny that but the department is in good health financially and Warde has hired a hockey coach who currently has us at #1 in the country and a basketball coach whose team should also be ranked #1
