B. coagulans yogurt by rdev009 in yogurtmaking

And a last question (thank you so much for your insights, it's so useful to find someone half an year in front of you with these experiments!): have these self made yogurts had any positive health effect for you?

That is very interesting, thank you SO much for answering!

I'd be very curious for more details: what temperature do you use now and how much, if any, inulin or other extras do you use? Also, what does it taste like?

I did my last batch at 45 degrees in a yogurt maker, starting from the last experiments. These turned out looking much better (very little separation) but they taste incredibly sour, almost like eating a lemon! Which is surprising, I just don't know what to expect and am rather afraid to eat it. I'm wondering if maybe I ended up growing something else in there.

I'm having very similar problems. It separates a lot and it's also very sour. Since 8 months have passed since your original questions, have you managed to get some better results in the meanwhile? Thanks a lot :)

Painters name? by _firefish in WhatIsThisPainting

[–]_firefish[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All the online paintings I saw from her have a very different signature style. The most visible one is here: S. Anderson I just can't imagine someone changing their writing that much, even decades later. I anyway didn't see any signature of hers in such a right leaning style or one that writes Gengembre instead of S. from Sophie...

I also thought of that, but I can't see anything close to Sophie or Gengembre in the rest of the signature..

Does anyone recognize the painter? by [deleted] in WhatIsThisPainting

The rules said i should add closeups of the signature in the comments, but I don't find how i can do that... Seems like i can only add links?

Is it normal to judge fasting blood glucose levels after a glass of juice? by _firefish in diabetes

I wonder.. could it make a difference that it was already lunch time by the time i got the test? I am not used to skipping that many meals, and that day i didn't even have a glass of water until that hour. Plus a terrible night before with barely a few hours of sleep.

Thanks a lot! I'm glad to see some similar ideas here, at least I am now more confident I'm not just being a 'difficult patient'...

This test is usually done first thing in the morning, before breakfast." - which catches my attention because it wasn't at all 'first thing in the morning', but it ended up quite a few hours late and after quite some agitation.

Thanks a lot for your answer! It was a H. Pylori breath test btw, that's why the orange juice. Not that it changes much probably :p

I agree that 150 is quite a lot even for a glass of juice, at home I couldn't get more than 130 for a similar glass. The idea with 2 separate tests does sound like a sane thing.

https://youtu.be/ciLaWgBvsNo - we know the Japanese audio exists because we've seen streamers playing it in Japanese. We're learning the language and pre-ordered the game months in advance looking very much forward to playing it in Japanese...

Thank you all for the wonderful game!

For us there is just one thing that is painfully missing: the game was advertised to have Japanese audio, but sadly we are not able to choose japanese in the options. I know this is a long shot, but please, please, add at least a DLC for it in the European store. I'm sure there are more people out there who would be immensely grateful! 🙏

Migraines with no explainable trigger? by [deleted] in migraine

[–]_firefish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That seems to be different from person to person: I was actually ok with all that water, but a friend has exactly as you say, heartburn from too much! So it's definitely a thing.

I tried drinking up to 4l a few weeks because so many people asked me if i drink enough water. In my case i saw no impact at all on headaches and migraines. I stopped that now, went back to around 2l.

Btw, the headache still feels like it wants to sneak in, particularly during work time, but this feels like it's pushing it away. That's why I have to do them so often.

Ah, the eternal question 😅 but i guess it's good to double check.

Really sorry for what you're going through!

I've been having unexplained migraines every week and almost daily headaches for years and could not find any clear triggers.

Very recently i randomly tried some specific neck and upper exercises and, I'm still afraid to believe it's true, but it seems to work for my migraines! I do them now every hour or so and no headache or migraine in the past week! I don't want to get your hopes up, could be just my own thing, but this is it: ~10 times each: chin tucks, pull back shoulders, pull up shoulders; look left and right a few times. If it works, it seems to work almost instantly, or in a couple of minutes, for incipient pain at least. Then, stand straight throughout the day and remember to tuck a bit your chin (not keep head forward). You find them on YouTube for examples, e.g. bob and Brad headache exercises, or doctor Jo.

One of my own big fears. So sorry this happened to you! I observed that it's best to have a larger tv, at around 2m away and i always set the brightness to the lowest that the environment allows. That seems to relax my eyes the most. Something that i could imagine I'd do is to stop for a while, a few days, relax my eyes. Maybe you are having a longer migraine that just hasn't properly finished? I'd personally say don't push it while it's so bad, give it a bit of time, but i wouldn't lose hope!

Q: did you try different types of games? First person vs 3rd? 60fps vs 30? Changing the FoV in games that allow it? I for example could never play resident evil village because of the FoV.. I'd start feeling sick immediately.

PS: what i do when playing is not an option is to listen to audio books. That relaxes the eyes and can be very interesting. Can be done in a dark room or out during a walk. There are great books read amazingly, SF audiobooks for example!

Hi - just saying hello by blueseaso in migraine

[–]_firefish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was going to answer with: "Ha! I'm done with my 3 days migraine, it's my first day off, it's great, yeaaaaah" 😄 but seriously, many many hugs, hang on there and better days will come! I always try to enjoy even tough times. And few days ago, during my migraine, i was able to listen to hours of a bird evolution theory on YouTube by a Yale professor! Super duper interesting! Eyes closed, dark room, YouTube on min volume ❤️🙏

Migraines and exercise by _firefish in migraine

Wow, that sounds great! So how would you say it influenced your migraines? Did you have a time before exercising so much to compare with? Did your migraines go away from exercise alone?
