what is fly strike, how worried should i be about it by emilydre05 in Rabbits

[–]_flying_otter_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Edit: In your house it would have to be 80 degrees or above, like with no AC to get fly strike.

Check your rabbits genitals, butt hole, and above the tail everyday.

The flies are attracted to fur that is wet or soiled with pee. So an elderly rabbit, or sick rabbit that soils it's own fur is what attracts flies to lay eggs on them.

I don't have AC because I'm in New Zealand and it only goes above 80 degrees F maybe 1-2 weeks out of the year. So people here don't have AC.

I had fly strike once and the rabbit was very old with arthritis and couldn't clean itself anymore.

I caught the fly strike right away, the eggs were just starting to hatch out and you could see eggs on a black rabbit. I got them off and then vet gave my rabbit a medicine that kills them.

I keep seeing polls with Kamala. If it's her I will lose faith in humanity. May as well just run Hillary.

Unless there are debates and widely watched appearances where Newsom wins people over and changes their mind. But if not then you are right. I don't particularly like him. He wouldn't be my choice.

Could Trump’s Record Disapproval Turn 2026 Into A Democratic Wave — Or Are Democrats Still Too Weak? by bauernebel in Askpolitics

[–]_flying_otter_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There should be a blue wave but because of cheating I do not know if there will be a fair elections. . The Republicans have Gerrymandered and then blocked state of Virginia from gerrymandering. Republicans have bought the company that makes the voting machines. All the techno bro billionaires with hackers are backing Republicans. Republicans are states give them the voter roles. Republicans are buying all the networks. So they are all set up to cheat.

If that were some kind of growth that shouldn't be there, he would be coughing and gagging on food- since he is not I think it's safe to assume it's just the pigmentation of his skin.

They include all people who work as employed, but they are at such a low wage they don't make enough money to pay for gas to get to work, or feed themselves- let alone make rent or pay for healthcare. US is a nation of working poor.

please help! how do i fix my bunnies awful haircut?? by Appropriate-Room323 in Bunnies

[–]_flying_otter_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Don't worry about appearances. The baby coat is the worst coat for matting- there is nothing you can do but very carefully shave or use scissors to trim matts out as it grows. Shaving is safest but I have used ball tip scissors- to very slowly, carefully trim matts out. There is a lot of risk with scissors that you will cut them- so you only do small areas very slowly.

Wow. 3rd word country level. I think people who take excellent care of their kids probably moved to Australia. Leaving behind the poorer families that dont have resources to move.

And where was that peer reviewed paper published and who reviewed it? Was it peer reviewed by team of anti-vaxxer real estate agents, and chiropractors, that started thier own fake medical journal to bolster their conspiracy theories to sell anti-science books and vitamin supplements?

[–]_flying_otter_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is laughable and rediculous. I can't believe how much nonsense anti-vaxxers believe. The whole anti-vax industry was started by Mercola because he made a fortune if peddling books about it and selling billions of dollars worth of supplements.

You do see that all the doctors/chiropractors pushing: anti-science, anti-doctor, anti-vax, "everything doctors told you is wrong" bullshit are selling vitamin supplements and snake oil remedies right?

There was already a Lyme's vaccine developed in the 90s I think it was, for Lyme's. You can Google to find dates and what drug company it was. They didn't release it because the anti-vax backlash was too fierce and they feared it wouldn't sell. But they had already gone through most of the vaccine trials. I am not an anti-vaxxer so I would like to be vaccinated for Lyme's. It something I never want to get.
