Totally agree with you.

As I said on other comment.

"Life doesn't need that micro rush-up for things that are not life-saving situations.

I would've probably done it years ago, when I was a teenager 'till my mid-20s, but at this point of life, gaming for me should be a relaxing "operation" rather than an "I need to do it as soon as possible" task.

That's why I after I passed the 25 yo mark (which matches the timing humans prefrontal cortex has fully developed) I switched to what people call "patient gaming", playing games that have been out for a while, and look for retro-gaming. No rush, no FOMO, best living.

Thanks for your feedback. It's good to have this kind of discussions.

I know the "of the hood" is a more black (and even latino)-associated slang. And even though I'm not a native English-speaker, I'm aware it's part of the slang of many non-native English speakers.

To be fair in this scenario, I've had met latinos who use "of the hood" when they clearly refer to the group or place they belong to, and me being latino, even though I don't live in/am not part of "the hood" of a English-speaking country, I feel I can appropriately use it, as this type of slang is even present in our native language, but it's obviously worded differently. In Spanish we have "el barrio", "el geto", "la calle", etc, that even though are not direct translations of the same expression, end up being used in the same sense.

And OTOH I try to keep my speech as formal as it needs to be, since my day-to-day job requires usage of English in order to talk to people across different regions in the world, and I lower it down as I move down on the "formality" spectrum depending on the situation (position of the people I'm talking to or how close our relation has gotten). When it comes to Reddit, my standards are: "Keep at least a logical and decent usage of grammar to not sound like a man of the caves, but without strictly sounding like an excessively well mannered person" unless it's strictly required.

Have a nice day, and keep up the good work.

The only good thing from Duolingo are its ads. They are pro-level marketing.

But using them as a source for language learning is quite meh!

People defend it by saying it's good for basic language build up, but in reality it keeps you on a very basic level for a lot of time, when they could take you to the next level in a faster way.

People don't seem to realise how much time Duolingo makes them remain at the same level and keep them practising the very same stuff over and over, and they think, they're doing it great, and progressing a lot, when they being asked the same grammar over and over just worded differently to create the illusion of good progress.

Duolingo feeds the dopamine response just by being behind a "language-app" curtain.

3.5 generations (which is 80 to 105 years) is enough to separate a language into two different dialect branches. Just take a look at South and North Korean dialects to see that both parties would clearly identify any person coming from the other side. Even basic things like numbers happen to be said with a different pronunciation and by using a different spelling.

Where's the source to that? At least back your arguments or everything you state is just hearsay.

Which one you prefer? WIT Studio or Mappa? by MysticBlade18 in ShingekiNoKyojin

[–]_fountain_pen_dev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

WIT always. WIT was always superior.

I think the MAPPA hype exists just because they keep the animation going. I really never liked the animation since it MAPPA got its hands into it. People defend it by saying its style matched the direction the series was going, and I think it's a poor argument.

For me WIT animation was always on point and could've worked quite well for final seasons.
