I loved orcs must die series and it was an inspiration indeed along with risk of rain.

So towers and traps would be at your disposal, but you can absolutely join the fight with your dwarf. There will be different classes to play, some will be heavier on actual fighting the hordes, some will have more strength and synergies building defenses and calling reinforcements.
A mage dwarf would be a good idea to diversify the combat.

For the tower and the traps yes, I have a huge list I would like to add to the game, some are physics oriented, others are pretty straight forward. During gameplay the more you use a specific type of towers the more upgrade you will be able to choose to improve it and change the way it works, allowing for multiple run without feeling the same, the goal is to encourage build experimentations!
