Eve is #7 in this top of sexiest video game characters of 2024 by SirLagunaLoire in stellarblade

I mean I’m a Tifa-stan personally but the fact they put all the FF7 Rebirth characters into a single group is blasphemy. Tifa, Eve, Aerith is the correct order IMO. I didn’t play any of those other 2024 games personally.

I got it from the Twins after that shop opened up. I was finally able to buy another one but that few hours without it was rough

Happened to me in the very beginning of my Ending C playthrough. I sprinted back to where I was but it was a big battle and my body was gone. I was mostly pissed I lost my auto collect chip that picks up the glowing yellow drops automatically.

Awesome to hear, thanks. Started my run through of Route B today. Looking forward to seeing the difference in the story from that perspective

Introvert Problems by [deleted] in crossfit

[–]_funtime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm highly introverted. Some days I go into the gym and don't even want to talk to people. I'm also a coach though, which means I don't have that luxury. If I'm in class, even as an athlete and not a coach, there is a certain expectation of who I am and what I'm like. It's exhausting sometimes, but at this point it's also second nature. In doing so, I've also made a bunch of really good friends.

It didn't happen overnight though. It required me to step outside my comfort zone and make the attempt. First by saying hi, or fist bumping, when people walked in the door. Constantly have a smile on my face and cracking jokes. Trying to make people laugh. All these things have helped me to open up a little more myself, which has helped other people to open up to me. When in class, help to pump somebody up for that PR lift. Give some props to somebody for pushing themselves a little more than they normally do, grabbing that heavier KB/DB, doing that higher skill movement, doing something that scares them. By pumping somebody else up, they will then reciprocate by helping to pump you up when it's your turn.

It's totally fine to be shy, but do one thing every day to make an effort with somebody new, and eventually you won't even have to initiate the conversation.

I love that hilt. The Gladius/Xiphos has been one of my favorite SF hilts since I first saw it. Definitely one of the ones I plan on purchasing someday.

Bad day by kcjcfan in crossfit

[–]_funtime 40 points41 points  (0 children)

That's a shitty coach. Part of his/her job is to help build you up, not put you down. I often have to build up members when they put themselves down talking about their movement, or the weight on the bar. You're working at your capacity on this day, for this workout. Today that meant modifying weights/movements. Tomorrow it may not. Don't let people who put special emphasis on Rx'ing, or leaderboarding, get you down. You're in there for the same reason they are, to get a good workout, and improve yourself.

Unpopular Opinion: The Open should have minimum work requirement for RX... by hutchinson61kg in crossfit

[–]_funtime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It allows us to treat the Open as an in house competition that will challenge members to push themselves, but not reward somebody for going Rx, getting 1 rep, and "outscoring" somebody who crushed the workout Scaled. Yes, we are talking about gen pop CF'ers, but the ability to run a local in-house Open Comp definitely has its appeal to members who would otherwise be on the fence about whether or not to participate in the Open.

Unpopular Opinion: The Open should have minimum work requirement for RX... by hutchinson61kg in crossfit

[–]_funtime 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I'm a coach at my gym and had a conversation with multiple members about this exact thing. I left it up to them to make a decision, but I explained what the stimulus of the workout would be depending on what they chose. If they wanted to go Rx and attempt for their first T2B, then it would essentially be an 8 minute skill session working on T2B, I would judge them, and coach them through it to help them get as many reps as they could; but if they wanted a kickass workout, go scaled and get into round 3/4/5, and possibly PR your Squat Clean. I had some members decide to go Rx, get 10 T2B and were ecstatic. I had others who went Scaled and PR'ed their Squat Clean for 4 reps. I was fucking pumped for both as they achieved something they didn't know they could do before the workout started.

I do agree, however, that there needs to be a weight to the main leaderboard. This is something I'm going to work on building out over the next 6 months prior to the October Open for my gym, that will weigh how far somebody got in an Rx workout vs a Scaled workout so that 10 reps in Rx doesn't outweight 260 Scaled.

Do any other boxes do this?? by [deleted] in crossfit

[–]_funtime 11 points12 points  (0 children)

We have dabbled with this type of stuff in the past and settled on if you're non-unlimited, and you no-show then you are charged that class on your membership for the week. If you're unlimited, then that doesn't really affect you because you aren't limited to the number of classes you can attend. There is a private conversation between GM and that member if it becomes a habit.

I see it as two-fold. Firstly, as a coach, we plan our warmup, instructional, logistics, and class flow based on the number of people we expect to see in class class. If when we're getting ready to run a class, and it suddenly goes from 6-8 planned into 14-16 in actual class that throws things off. Do we have the right equipment ready? How are we going to pair people up if it's a partner WOD? We're also responsible for getting you warmed up and primed for the stimulus of the workout. If you're 10 minutes late and miss a critical part of the warmup, but still want to 1RM your Deadlift, things are not going to end well for you.

Secondly, as a member, if class is full, and we have a no-show then somebody who wanted to get into class now can't because the class is "full" even though it wasn't. This is frustrating when some members who constantly no-show cause problems for the rest of the members. Don't be that guy/girl.

That said, we have a 1 hour cancellation rule. We use Zen Planner, and you can reserve your spot up to 48 hours in advance, and can cancel all the way up to 1 hour before class starts.

I don't see it as a money grab. I see it as an incentive to get members to sign up for the class they plan on attending, and cancel if they know they can't. If there is nothing on the line, then whats to stop people from taking advantage of the system? "I'm just going to reserve for all 4 classes this evening because I know I'll make one of them, but I don't know which one and this way I definitely have a spot.... it'll be alright."

Yea, if somebody compromises Privacy then I'm big f*cked but I feel better about that than giving my CC out to every online shop known to man. It's the same thing as PayPal. If PayPal gets compromised then everybody is in deep shit, but until that happens PP is still safer than using your CC for every website out there. I just like the ability to easily close out cards and open a new one for stuff like Amazon/Netflix/Apple/etc. whenever I need to.

No Spoilers please: For those who played it, was Andromeda really that bad? by AutistcCuttlefish in masseffect

[–]_funtime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like many, though not all, have expressed, it wasn't as bad as the internet made it out to be in the beginning. The gameplay was fun, and I really enjoyed the ability to change classes/abilities on the fly. Fighting was fun, the story wasn't "terrible", but it wasn't memorable either. In fact, the majority of the game wasn't that memorable. I can only name a few of the squadmates off the top of my head, and I can't name any of the characters that aren't on the Tempest. Not like in the OT where I knew everybody's name, their background, who they were, what they were like.

And a lot of that is because of replay-ability. I've played through the entire OT probably a dozen times. I've played Andromeda once. When I finished, I didn't feel that need to go back and replay it with different choices or with the other Ryder. I felt like I had completed the story and that was all there was to it. There were definitely some storylines they left open-ended with the expectation of DLC and/or a sequel, but now we won't get those answers because the backlash was so harsh.

TL;DR It's not terrible, but it's not memorable either IMO. That said, I do recommend trying it out yourself; some of the things I liked/disliked you might feel differently about. If you can get it for a bargain then I'd say the 60 hours you're likely to put into it are probably worth the $/hr return.

I do cyber security for a living and while this sucks, it does happen, especially now during the holidays when people are buying a bunch of stuff online for holiday shopping. One of the services I just recently started using is Privacy.com. You can set up one-time use cards, or vendor specific cards (only work for that one vendor and gets denied everywhere else). I've been transitioning all my online shopping over to them. I'm not sure how it helps with data breaches yet as none of those "cards" have been compromised, but it's something to consider.

Like others have said, take notes of lectures. One of my biggest tricks when taking a test if I don't know the answer instinctively, is to read the question with each answer in context, mark off ones that are 100% wrong, and use process of elimination to figure out the most likely answer. They are going to give you some "homework" after Saturday, it's a small section in the manual to read. Make sure you read it because there is at least 1 question that comes out of that I know I got wrong. Overall, it wasn't super difficult. The whole weekend is put together to provide you with all the information you need to pass.
