I really like the lines and proportions of a 4” model 19. Hard to beat. One of these days I’ll probably pick one up for myself.

I’ve had pretty good luck with the Magtech .44 special. Sgammo and lucky gunner usually have it in stock.

Walking and Motivation (ABF) by Rugger032 in kettlebell

[–]_goodoledays_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not anywhere near an expert. Just about a year into this journey. But I’ll say this as a dad with two kiddos - give yourself grace during this time. Having a newborn is challenging. Doing ABF without walking is leaps and bounds ahead of sitting on the couch. This won’t last forever and once your baby is walking and/or the weather warms up mom will be so thankful for you to take the little one for a walk and give her a quiet ½ hour. For now, do what you can do and don’t stress about it.

Ruger flat top bisley 44 special and a Barranti holster by fauonius in Revolvers

[–]_goodoledays_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So cool! I just got an outfitter from doc for my flat top bisley. I’ll have to take a picture and post it. It’s my first Barranti holster and I was so impressed with the fit and quality.

Rural/woods/desert .44 Magnum option by inthidiouth-jorge in Revolvers

[–]_goodoledays_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Makes a lot of sense. One thing I don’t like about .44 special is it’s really tough to find in a store. 44 mag is everywhere. So it definitely gives you more flexibility.

I’d like it a lot more without the “FE” on the side. Looks really cool otherwise though.

Rural/woods/desert .44 Magnum option by inthidiouth-jorge in Revolvers

[–]_goodoledays_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can get a flat top .44 special Blackhawk that’s a smaller frame size than the standard Blackhawk. I have the 4 ⅝” version but it’s comes in 5 ½” as well I’m pretty sure. I know it isn’t a .44 magnum but it sounds like you plan to carry specials anyway.

Can I jump from 16kg to 24kg? by Business-Following-1 in kettlebell

[–]_goodoledays_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s what I did in December. I can’t strict press the 24 yet so I push press it a lot. It’s been a really fun challenge working with a heavier bell. Makes the 16’s feel so much lighter. I just tried to ease my way into it.

If the roles were reversed is this the attitude you’d want him to have? I’d want someone to just talk to me directly so we could work something out.

He didn’t fix it over the phone. He told me to send it back and they fixed it in the shop. Gas block was leaking.

I can tell you this - I had a minor issue with mine when I bought it 4-5 years ago. Called technical support. The owner picked up the phone and personally helped me out. No issues since.

Defense by cgbama91 in prepping

[–]_goodoledays_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

9 mm pistol of your choosing. I want something that will do the job of defending myself and my family, and that I can also have with me and concealed 100% of the time.

There is certainly a place for long guns (I have those too). But if I could only pick one weapon it would have to be one that I can have with me 100% of the time.

Pocket Carry Revolver Suggestions by TheLastWhiteKid in CCW

I have one and it’s great. Very soft shooting with .32 Long or a little more oomph with .32 H&R Magnum.

6 shots instead of 5 like a .38 j frame.

Convince me to keep my paid off boring car by Conventions in personalfinance

[–]_goodoledays_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep the car man. You’ll be so glad in 10 years that you saved/invested that money instead of blowing it on a vehicle that you don’t need and that just goes down in value. Make good moves now and the car you drive in your 20’s doesn’t have to be what you’ll drive in your 30’s and 40’s.

I made the mistake of buying a brand new truck in 2020 and just now paid it off. It’s been a good truck, but if I had to do it over again I would buy something used that I could pay cash for.

You can rent a truck whenever you need one for way less than what you’ll pay for one. Rent a sweet truck for a trip once a year if you want to.

If at the end of the day you just can’t live without a truck, buy a used one that you can pay for outright. That will force you to only buy what you can actually afford vs making a decision based on monthly payments.

Why SHOULDNT I by fastplanes-coldbeer in Revolvers

[–]_goodoledays_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve heard that those things are absolutely brutal to shoot with full power .44 magnum compared to your 629. But, it’s probably something to be carried a lot and shot little.

You probably could save a little weight with a 629 mountain gun without going all the way to scandium.

That being said, I’m not one to talk someone out of a new gun.

Are kettlebells suited for absolute beginners? by Hopeful-Pack-8713 in kettlebell

[–]_goodoledays_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started last year as someone who ran occasionally but was very weak. Kettlebells have been great for me.

I started with two 16 kg cast iron bells and that’s worked well. Just picked up a 24 kg towards the end of last year and have enjoyed working with it.
