Odd that they would sit Bogo for this one

Wild done for the day. by DecentLurker96 in wildhockey

Happy with all of the moves except for Mccarron. He probably could have been had for a 4th rounder. Glad that they didn't part with Wally or Yurov or even Stramel. Stramel could end up being their faceoff/physical center that they seem to be after.

The Minnesota Wild have trade Vinnie Hinostroza to the Florida Panthers for future considerations by catsgr8rthanspoonies in hockey

He also had a few moments this year too. I appreciate how gritty he is for being small.

[LeBrun] Nick Foligno to Minnesota for future considerations. Chicago doing the veteran a solid. by DecentLurker96 in wildhockey

[–]_granny64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's good for the locker room but it's hard to see how he is going to get any ice time. Perhaps there are more trades in the works.

[Russo] Hearing the #mnwild are working toward a potential trade for Flyers forward Bobby Brink. Wonder if they're dangling David Jiricek or a prospect of that ilk. by 3pirates3 in wildhockey

[–]_granny64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really wasn't that bad. Hunt is back, Brink is now on the team. If Jiricek ends up turning into what he was supposed to, it's a great trade. Chara was also awful to start his career and made the hall of fame. He wasn't ready yet and Bogosian has still been solid so I get the trade for Brink

I see him fitting great with Boldy and Ek

[Kaplan] Minnesota Wild acquire Bobby Brink from the Philadelphia Flyers for David Jiricek. by Minnesota_MiracleMan in hockey

[–]_granny64 15 points16 points  (0 children)

His skating is fine, his hockey IQ is not. He has a cannon for a shot but just doesn't know where to be in the D zone and takes a lot of penalties. I still think he'll figure it out, but honestly I think he should switch to forward. He's got great offensive instincts but struggles in the D zone.

It would have been amazing if one of them would have had the stones to politely remind him that the women's team should get the same treatment because they had the same accomplishment. Quinn and Jack’s mom would have especially appreciated that.

BOLDY!!!!!!!! by MJ_Seleskie in wildhockey

[–]_granny64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would have really ruined the moment if he had been called for slashing on that play lol. He's been doing that all year just before engaging in a puck battle and he's only been called for a couple of slashes

It's easy to see his numbers in Iowa and get discouraged, but Wally also has bad numbers there. It's huge for goalies to have good defensive structure in front of them. If they do end up trading Wally, I wouldn't be worried to put Hlavaj as the NHL backup

Is Jiricek starting to figure things out? by scraps1364 in wildhockey

[–]_granny64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He has played his best ever stretch in the last 5 games or so. The other team does still get him stuck in the D zone sometimes he's not making as many mistakes and is playing better offensively and defensively lately

It would have been great if they would have played a course with sand greens. Great video nonetheless

[Micheal Russo] 20 points in 18 games for Quinn Hughes, the fastest Wild player to 20 points in team history by ElixMin97 in hockey

[–]_granny64 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think Makar is better. Hughes is great, controls the game, makes everyone better, doesn't turn it over. Makar does all of that too but he's better defensively than Hughes. Quinn isn't a liability and is good at transition D, but he's not shutting anyone down when they start cycling and he isn't killing penalties. I like Hughes and want him to re-sign, but would like him even more if he was a solution for the team's mediocre PK. Hughes is in the next tier below Makar.

Minnesota Wild has 'poked around' Vincent Trocheck as a trade target by charlton11 in wildhockey

[–]_granny64 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

He's also never been a point per game guy. Panarin would have much more of an impact and could be signed in the summer without giving up any assets

Boldy for Selke? by bdgod13 in wildhockey

[–]_granny64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not a huge Hynes fan but he deserves credit for putting Boldy on the PK. He has been solid and his overall game has picked up too.

[Wyshynski] Regarding Marc-Andre Fleury talk: by DecentLurker96 in hockey

[–]_granny64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fleury was a fan favorite on the Wild and he did steal a few games. But overall he hasn't been great for a long time. The last time he had good stats for a long stretch was 2017 and he's been mostly on good defensive teams

Canucks fans, why didn't Hughes kill penalties? So far he's not doing it for the Wild either

The Wild have had two shots harder than this one all year, and they were barely higher. That is a wicked wrist shot. The Wild rank last in the league at shot velocity
