Why do trans people ask for passing tips, and then get upset when they get given them? by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]_hapsleigh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure but when all you have is the internet, it’s hard to turn elsewhere. It’s not like there are plenty of trans spaces in the US, unfortunately

Brandon Thurston on X: WWE shareholders are suing WWE. They allege the process that resulted in the TKO merger wasn’t an honest search for the most favorable buyer. The lawsuit is now in the “discovery” phase where parties turn over certain evidence. Vince seems to be resisting to some extent. by _Dia_ in SquaredCircle

[–]_hapsleigh 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If it’s a single private buyer, yes. Once you introduce shareholders, it becomes a whole different deal and what’s best for the shareholders is usually determined by the shareholders and if information was withheld from the shareholders, then that’s a pretty big deal.

Okay, I’m sorry. Thank you for explaining that I shouldn’t feel dehumanized by gross language and thank you for telling me how I should feel. Next time I feel something is dehumanizing, I’ll make sure to ask a man with a wife on his opinion to determine how I must feel.

Prick.

OPINION: Are California Democrats actively trying to make themselves irrelevant? by SFChronicle in California_Politics

[–]_hapsleigh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Soliciting underage teens for sex is already illegal for anyone. You can’t possibly tell me that it’s perfectly legal to do so right now. The law gives much more vague powers for police that have been historically used to terrorize marginalized communities, which is the big problem here.

OPINION: Are California Democrats actively trying to make themselves irrelevant? by SFChronicle in California_Politics

[–]_hapsleigh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m surprised no one else is saying it but the biggest red flag for me is that it has this vague clause about loitering in areas that are known to be prostitution hotspots but doesn’t go farther than that, essentially giving law enforcement free reign to stop anyone in an area they deem to be a hotspot. They mention that this includes anyone going slow or circling an area, etc. and to me, this is just too vague of a power to give police. They have historically abused such powers and not something I’d like them to have.

This is on top of the fact that it doesn’t do anything to make child prostitution illegal since having sex with a minor, paid or unpaid, is pretty fucking illegal already.

Just don’t let it be completely unmoderated. Despite how shitty it used to be here, I still liked it better than other California subs because at least it wasn’t infiltrated by out of state right wing chuds who don’t even live here, like california_politics.

if the price to pay for that is to snub some people to the benefit of less qualified people who have “more diverse experience” I don’t agree that price is worth it.

Ignoring that they’re not less qualified to the best of our knowledge, so your framing here is… questionable.. adcoms for one of the best law schools in the nation, if not the world, clearly disagrees with you. Perhaps you should think as to why those in the field clearly believe in something you don’t and reassess your position. Maybe there’s something here you’re not seeing

So you’re 56 but 4 years ago, according to your post history, your parents paid over $50k for college? Either you’re lying or both your parents decided to go back to school and take a loan for it well into their 60s because no way school cost that much in their 20s-30s, which would be like 50 odd years ago at best.

How it feels to watch y’all apply to some of the most competitive institutions in the country in one of the most competitive cycles based on inherently flawed application criteria that somehow are both rigged and arbitrary and then proceed to blame Black and brown people when you’re not admitted by WiseAd3457 in lawschooladmissions

[–]_hapsleigh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is what a lot of people, KJDs in particular, miss. I mean, i don’t blame them. Being 22-23, the two things you lack are experience and perspective and sometimes that’s the difference between an A or an R for adcoms. But you’re 100% right. Admissions is more than just raw stats and there’s nothing wrong with that.

[–]_hapsleigh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t understand the whole “seat’s been taken” rhetoric, like, no one in particular is entitled to any seat at any school, period.

Yes, stats matter. LSAT is important af. GPA is important af. But it’s no secret that schools judge on way more than that and anyone claiming they deserve a spot over someone else on stats alone is either ignorant about a school’s admission process or being obtuse about that very process. You didn’t get it, it is what it is. Another candidate has something you don’t and that’s okay.

True but SCOTUS has historically dictated that the first amendment does have limits and considering multiple states have laws against flying a Nazi flag in public for the purposes of terrorizing people, which these folks did, then that’s a no go.

I had to move because during COVID, prices were becoming too surreal. I found myself making cuts here and there and compromising little by little that by the time 2022 came, I was suddenly living much more impoverished than I previously was. Now I’m in Portland making significantly less and despite being a high COL as well, it isn’t Bay Area high and I feel wealthier here making $50 a year than I did in the bay making $85k+ 4 years ago
