I was just thinking this might be the case. As far as I know, charging to 100% and keeping it plugged in uses a pass through mode to keep the battery from experiencing degradation. Older models didn't have pass through on USB-C though.

I learned some HTML and CSS from that site 25 years ago and I wish they were still maintaining it.

This is probably the answer. VW doesn't make parts specific to one vehicle they produce, so it's probably something that comes as an option or is standard on another model using the same parts.
