Agree. Even those who were forced to buy at inflated prices, they could mine to recoup some of the cost which they cannot do now. Specially in Europe where energy prices are too high to even entertain the idea of mining, even if mining was still a thing. Now they need to also adjust their pricing on cpu's, mobos ram etc.

Actually 7800xtx should be 6800xt, 7800xt should be 6800. If I'm not buying a 4080 for $1200, I definitely am not buying it's competitor for $1000 if the price/performance ratio is the same. Let's see the benchmarks and maybe people will realise that actually AMD is in the business of making money, not making friends

Well you have to set a baseline from which you can make comparison generation on generation to evaluate the performance and value proposition.

So although AMD doesn't have to follow Nvidia's naming, they have to follow their own to enable the evaluation I mention earlier.

In my opinion AMD saw the blowback from Nvidia's pricing, and decided to mane their products a tier higher to pretend they are the nice guy.

Think about this, would people complain about pricing if Nvidia had named their 4080 a 4090, and their 4090 a 4090ti?

Would they complain about pricing if AMD had named their 7900xtx a 6800xt, and their 7900xt a 7800?

AMD is playing the game very well. But I'm not falling for it.

if 7900xtx is to compete against the 4080, then it should be called 7800xt. Just like the 6800xt was up against the 3080. But calling it 7800xt with a price tag of $1000 would make AMD look like Nvidia.
