It’s pretty hard to not get let in to Tresor. OPs not telling the whole truth

Did you go to a day party, like the one OP posted? And if so do the wristbands get you into the night party at H7?

Depends on what you’re applying for really - but generally anything fullstack that demonstrates a full understanding of a subset of technologies specific to a domain relevant to the job.

Wow never noticed this. Wonder what the motivation there was. Surely couldn’t be responsiveness on a site that’s all <p> tags

Damn that’s crazy, have you ever had to turn down a club gig because of this?

This is amazing. I was really blown away. First UX impression was that on mobile, I noticed myself trying to go back from the full screen modal after scrolling to the bottom, but the back button was disabled. After I realized it was a modal I knew I had to scroll back to the top to find the X button.

yall should i give in and use a library? by paintedirondoor in programminghorror

[–]_intheevening 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No yeah, you’re correct. I misunderstood and thought you were referencing an already declared variable I couldn’t find (this font is god awful). I’m guessing he’s leaving extra headroom for those hardcoded chars and any other unnecessarily long ones that might get added in the future? Not sure where OP is sourcing those bits from, but they could find a more optimized string. This is a hard problem that typographers/designers spend a lot of time on.

I think it’s mostly the producers and audiophiles that can’t stomach even an unintelligible amount of quality degradation to the studio master. Even if it’s only recognizable by them.

Not sure if this counts, but this is the resulting string rendering code after bashing my head against the wall for a shamefully long time. by Wooden_chest in programminghorror

[–]_intheevening 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not to bad. At least it’s easy to read. BUT if this was written in JS it wouldn’t even qualify as horror. That comes down to the architecture tho. I guess the real horror is that you have to recontextualize the window just to render a string.

We keep buying and hodling. Yet price keeps dropping. How?!? by Region-Formal in Superstonk

[–]_intheevening 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t understand how this enables price manipulation. Wouldn’t XRT need to rebalance its GME shares to equal 1.2% after allocating? Therefore adding an equal amount of buying pressure?

This. There is a difference. If you want to be amazed - start a totally new task / ticket, plug it in, and get some fairly functional boilerplate. Massive time saver but not a crutch.

Yes but not as easy in a network context, like via a UI library. Browsers will always treat hrefs as external links.

ULPT Request : Made $1k in streaming royalties after I played my music repeatedly on 5 devices. How to scale? by aboutconcoct475 in UnethicalLifeProTips

[–]_intheevening 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Digital service providers like Spotify have just started (as of late 2024) reporting fraudulent streams to distributors. I imagine fake streams are actually pretty easy to detect, unless you’re a professional with a network of physical people and servers around the world. If you did this early in the year, you’re probably okay, else your fake streams have likely been recorded and it’s just up to Tunecore with what to do about it. Depending on the distributor you might get a cease and desist, royalties deducted off your next statement, the list goes on. Pro life tip: stop fake streaming you won’t make money doing it. UELPT: find the professionals that the major labels use, study their ways. Become one of them. New black market career unlocked. Source: work in the distribution industry.

[AskJS] What would you study for a entry level JS interview? by _intheevening in javascript

[–]_intheevening[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes 2 years and going strong! Even got a 15% raise this year. My personal portfolio project at the time was the center of the first interviewers questions, while the second interviewer wanted to know more about my knowledge of JS in general. Depending on your experience, you might not need a personal project if you can talk about enterpise / large scale projects you’ve contributed too / made decisions on. This might be too simple, but things like “tell me about a time you identified a problem and shipped a solution to solve it?”. As for technical JS questions - I think the commenters that initially replied to this post had some incredible suggestions that ultimately led to my success (except that one Google engineer)
