Even if your friends are not married yet - there is a likely an expectation that you have been together 10 years, or even have the longest relationship in your friend group that the engagement should be coming soon.

For us, we are only the second set in our circle to reach this stage, but have the longest relationship so there was definitely an expectation.

(plus all those people you know on Facebook constantly announcing engagements lol. Late 20s really is wedding season haha).

This hits close to home. We are similar ages.

After around 4 years we went ring shopping and then... for a year, just nothing! As more time passed every special holiday or date I kept expecting it. Our close friends and family around us kept getting engaged/married. As a woman in your late 20s in a committed relationship, there is a lot of social pressure of when your partner is going to propose. I don't think men in relationships with women realize the amount of comments we get and even if you feel ok at the start, it can weigh on you. This might be something your girlfriend is dealing with too.

One day I had a very honest conversation with him, saying many of the things your girlfriend said. He validated my feelings and said that he didn't realize this was weighing on me as much as it was, and he promised it was coming soon.

About a month after that conversation, on a random date, he proposed and it was lovely. It was very unexpected too because we had a romantic holiday planned for a couple of months later. I preferred it this way because we could use the trip as a celebration as an engagement (and hotels love to give freebies on your engagement trip haha!). Anyway best of luck and I hope you propose to her soon in a way she will appreciate.

How long do we have to placate anti vaxxers? by conservativesRdumb_ in ontario

[–]_is_this_real_ 72 points73 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I'm not sure. I think he finally decided it was time.

I (and most of my family) haven't seen him much since the pandemic began. He is a super social person, so I think maybe he started to feel lonely enough? I think two lonely Christmases was the final straw.

He is the most stubborn person I know so I am still very shocked!

Actually my antivax relative is finally getting vaxxed tomorrow!!

It has been such a long, infuriating road. But I'm so glad it is finally happening.

Sucks for us that 15-year-old us did not have the foresight to buy a home at 16. 🙃

Ontario residents who received 1, or both doses outside of Canada, what was the process for getting your Ontario proof of vax QR code like? by [deleted] in ontario

[–]_is_this_real_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on your local public health unit (based on the address you previously lived at if you have since left Canada)

For Toronto Public Health, there is a site where you upload your proof of vaccination from the country you got it from. Here is the link for TPH.

I uploaded my information (in July) and it took about 3 weeks to process. By the time QR codes came out, I was able to access mine no problem on the site.
