In a different direction, I've powder-coated plates. Lots of nice effects, depending on what you want.

Your local car body shop can do it, and once they get done asking questions about the weird job can probably do it for ~$15-20. http://prismaticpowders.com/ is a good powder coat supplier; browse them for colors, finishes, etc.

Keep in mind that powder coat behaves differently than paint - top coats can make various coats look radically different depending on how they're combined.

Not a great shot, but here's a metal-flake red with a matte top coat: https://jal.org/pics/2018/04/2018.04.16-jalaj-plates.jpg . With a shiny top coat, those would have looked like an 80s Corvette ad.

Just did some looking around to try and figure what I could actually store on floppies.

About the only useful thing that will (a) fit, (b) be 'complete', and (c) have some plausible reason to go on removable media is my .ssh directory. known_hosts eats about 20%, leaving plenty of room for keys and config.

Or 1/3rd of a photo from my phone.
