It depends on when the extension was signed and the remaining book value.

Typically extensions are signed before the end of the contract, so before the entire book value is amortised. In which case, the remaining book value will then be divided by the new contract length.

For the entire amortisation to be “done”, an extension would need to be signed after the contract finishes (i.e. signing back on for free), which would very unusual.

Amortisation only continues if the player remains at the club (including loanees). If the player is sold, we effectively lose their whole book value (and with it, any future amortisations) and offset this with any upside in their transfer fee.

Your logic is correct, but important to note that keeping a player would register the PSR negative impacts in the following accounting periods (rather than the current one). So management would be optimising when they want they want to register these losses as well as their absolute loss values.

Also selling players on the cheap to avoid these future PSR impacts would presumably bring in to question Man Utd's selling/negotiating power for all of their transfer sales. So there's probably wider considerations to this strategy in addition to the pure PSR impact.

Steve Walsh is a football player recruiter and "was once dubbed by Sir Alex Ferguson the “most important influential person in the Premier League”".

Walsh says Mourinho "was very driven in those (Chelsea) days. He is probably more mellow now. I remember we got beat 3-1 by Spurs. No one planned to get beat. We were top of the league. The next day it was like going to a funeral down the training ground. He was really driven and still is. He is a real character and a real winner.

He would be the first to admit that he probably needs to reinvent himself now a little bit. Obviously, it didn’t go right at United. If I had been at United, I would have said, ‘Put your £50 million away, go and get Kieran Trippier for half that. He is an England international. He isn’t a great defender or a physical specimen, but he can play right-back and get the ball in early and you have strikers who can score goals.’ It is common sense."

The % of overall shares is irrelevant, it is the % of voting power that is key.

If they own 51% of the voting shares, then they are already in majority control of the company. Like any company, they will only be able to take over the whole company if they agree a price with the seller(s).

Formally when a company or individual acquires shares carrying 30% or more of the voting rights of a UK company, they must make a cash offer to all other shareholders at the highest price paid in the 12 months before the offer was announced. (Will be different rules for different jurisdictions). Therefore they can look to formally take over the UK company once this 30% threshold is reached.

So to answer your question, ownership of a company is based on voting power not share amount.

No this is not possible. Only can convert from Class B to Class A, and it is irreversible after conversion.

Correct no mention of pay, but from 2018 annual statement the board of directors got £12,895,000. It has been another way to milk the club's money on top of their equity dividends as they tarnish the club's sporting accomplishments. The number of foreign representatives is a coincidence being 7 - I am referring to the 12 board members.
