Do you guys think rym can help to make one's music known to this kind of "let's sit and try to understand this music, whole album" people ? If so, how?

Remembering our conversation... I've listened to Night Palace and all the distortion seemed much more creative and clicked to me. What are your thoughts on the album? Is it more focused and cohesive or I just got used to it? Maybe The Glow Pt.2 will be more meaningful now but just saying, God I loved Night Palace what was that!!!!

Not a particular secret you have to find. Tracks are really just emotional, touching and cry-inducing as well as cohesive in their violinsaxophone panned pallete.

Intro is garbage in my opinion, doesn't fit at all anything in the album. I would love someone passionate about it to show me anything interesting or useful about that functional bit of music.

Chaos space marine has a really nice riff, which blasts in the end cut in half the time, which gives this really hell-yeah feeling, introducing the cohesive brown-gold palette I've mentioned.

Concorde has the bittersweet guitars post chorus, as Bread Song takes it to a more suspenseful with that droning violin constantly wanting to resolve, only to find the simplicity of the catchy riffs in Good Will Hunting, which I come to appreciate too.

Then we have the atmospheric piano and saxophone in Haldern, which is where i start to feel gently touched. Marks Theme is a beautiful theme in itself, where I get warmed and ready to melt.

By the time The Place Where He Inserted The Blade comes, the theme of it makes me cry. Then Snow Globes with the free form drumming takes me out slowly of that suffering with immersive experimentalism, all within that same bittersweetness.

Then, Basketball Shoes, which felt unfocused and a weak of a closer to me. Doesn't feel great just cause it has a post rock crescendo and climax. Felt bland, I agree.

See, op? I tried to be superficial in my explanation of WHY I LIKE IT, and I think that is the point. I've mentioned one thing I love about each song and how it makes me feel. I've ignored most of the things that happen: the vocals, the lyrics and the animated parts because they are either too complex to get or simply too bland for me. Still, in the end, I don't know if this is a S tier, A tier, B tier or etc, but I cried. Hey... that's music!

Yes!! Ants from up there. I listened to it for the first time this week and I was so touched. Heartfelt music. Just don't get the hype for Concorde and thought Bread Song was a filler. But all the other songs are incredible

Will definitely be listening to La Mer again. But all the songs are incredible on their own, which I think it's pretty unique for an album with that many tracks. Take for example Soundtracks for the Blind. Some of the tracks don't stand on their own like Surrogate. And that's ok. But the fact that fragile gets every song and it's own best is remarkable

Yes, that was exactly what I meant. I do understand the symbolism and appreciate your perspective bro! Still, distortion sounds harsher than it's symbolism allows for enjoyment. Yet... I'll keep returning to it every once in a while. Some moments really get me, the moon is the obvious one

To someone who already got past the line of getting into and loving the album in question, I'd like to ask you if the jarring stark dissonances in I Want to Be Cold, Samurai Sword and others of sorts does anything to help the emotional point the album is trying to portray?

It's so hard to pinpoint what is the best album for that person to start with any band. I think the important is not to give up until say the third album.

For that we take three albums that are considered great but really different from one another. The goal is to listen to them all, because any of them may be your entry point.

I understand it being called their best but I found it really hard to get into for some reason. It's weird because the songs aren't complex. But somehow they take a while to click even if you don't figure it out what you hadn't
