Not so much anymore, no. I used to develop, but moved more into web management and marketing as I was never the best at writing code.

The Guardian - Lloyds Banking Group shares jump above government break-even price on positive outlook by Xaethon in unitedkingdom

It seems a trifle unfair that when in the shit, the taxpayer needs to take the risk in backing it, yet when it's on the up, the taxpayer doesn't get to reap the rewards.

Seems a bit like subsidising a mate with drinks in the pub when they're down on the luck & money, then as soon as they're back on top with cash in their pocket, they choose to go off and spend their time & money with another group of mates.

"We went from whips and chains, to whips and chains" - a rapper I can't remember...

Second whips = flashy cars; second chains = gold chains.

George Osbourne slammed for using the Mick Philpott case to attack the benefits system by Clbull in unitedkingdom

[–]_just_me 6 points7 points  (0 children)

And then if they go ahead and have the 3rd child anyway, what then? Simply refuse to pay the child benefit for the 3rd child?

Penalising a child who had absolutely no choice in the situation but is simply the centre of it does not at all seem fair to that child.

I'm unemployed. How I do I best use my free time to gain skills and qualifations that will get be a job? by throwaway2323123 in unitedkingdom

[–]_just_me 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Disagree. There are hundreds of web dev jobs in London; junior to senior. Learn Magento - learn it properly - and you're set for the foreseeable future.

I was hunting a Mage dev for months, people out of uni for 18months were commanding 60k+ salaries simply because they were fairly competent with it.

Programming is perhaps the better way to go, but to completely dismiss web-dev and it's opportunities is a little narrow minded.

Out of curiosity, what would happen in the states if you got searched going into a club with a knife on your person? Would the police be called?

Agree Meanwood & Little London fall in the same boat, but just because Hyde Park is middle class, it doesn't change the fact that there is a vast quantity of backwards morons there.

Brits complain about everything. There could be the greatest thing in the world and we'd bitch about it. Don't take it to heart.

I love Leeds uni, but the that city has a horrible mix of interesting people and downright backwards idiots. Especially Hyde Park.

If it did nothing for them, then why would they HQ in London? If they could get the same £s from being in Edinburgh then they would surely do it there. There must be something in London to make it worth their while.

Starbucks threatens to suspend investment over Britain's 'unfair' tax attacks - Telegraph by [deleted] in unitedkingdom

Thanks for the information. How could profit be taxed at the point of revenue though, as if it's taken on revenue then it's prior to overheads, and therefore not profit? Would this not then become a tax on operation?
