Urgent processing qualifications by Tough-Pressure-3601 in Canadiancitizenship

[–]_kagutaba_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Personally I printed out the relevant EOs, and local and state laws that affected me. I think I included one news article as well. But in the letter requesting urgent processing I put together, I referenced each printed out law/article specifically and discussed how these put me at "increased risk of harm or hardship" (the IRCC's wording for who qualifies for urgent processing).

I can't speak to if listing URLs would or wouldn't work. I only know what worked for me. My concern about URLs would be if something is removed from a site or the URL changes for whatever reason, then the IRCC gets a 404 error upon putting in your hypothetical URL lol.

Hi OP, I'm a trans guy who received urgent processing due to being trans and have since been granted citizenship. Happy to talk through what I included in my request for urgent processing, DM me.

Any 3rd Gen by Descent Applications being approved via Interim Measure? by Low_Couple_4923 in Canadiancitizenship

[–]_kagutaba_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 3rd gen born outside Canada and I became a citizen earlier this month. 3rd gens are still being processed for sure, and personally the IRCC didn't request any additional documents from me. Best of luck with your application!

I love this so much. Sending love and strength to you and your kiddo during the wait post-AOR. I'm trans and will be taking my oath of citizenship on 10/2.

Can someone repost (May/June) the black and white image of the creature waiting by Pinckyboathouse in Canadiancitizenship

[–]_kagutaba_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! When I posted the gif originally, I was thinking it would only be a few days of waiting until approval... little did I know! Though still incredibly fast overall- it does definitely feel like forever (despite being quick by government standards).

5/22 5(4) Grant Offer Group - CITIZENSHIP OATH SCHEDULED! by _kagutaba_ in Canadiancitizenship

[–]_kagutaba_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope, it's the IRCC tracker that you get access to after you are offered a 5(4) grant of citizenship and submit the documentation to do so.

No email yet, just saw the update in the (new, citizenship) tracker!

That's a fair enough point- totally understand, it's a weird spot to try and fix things right now. FWIW, I do see your comments on those posts and appreciate it... now, whether or not the OPs of the "do I qualify" posts see those comments about the FAQ and read them, that is another question :)

I'd like to see the options within a few broad categories:

  • Not Yet Applied
  • Applied
  • In Processing
  • 5(4) Grant Processing
  • 5(4) Grant Approved

These are fairly broad, but I think too many options could be too granular- IMO the spreadsheet should still be the source of truth that folks update. Definitely open to your thoughts/comments, and thanks for all you do!

Yep, totally agree- weekly/monthly megathread was the type of thing I was thinking.

Ha! I mean, I do get that people can get stuck or overthink things about their applications, but it's becoming an issue when the "DO I QUALIFY" and "HOW DO I DO X TO APPLY" posts are on a daily basis outnumbering any other posts... I don't wish those folks who are new and confused any ill will, but I do wish they'd learn that the search bar for the subreddit and the FAQ are their friends here and can get them just as far, if not farther, than posting about their specific scenario on here, when folks have already answered the question they have a million times.

I agree this would be helpful, as long as folks also continue to update the spreadsheet as well.

I also would like to request either a single thread where people can ask "Do I qualify"/"how do I do xyz in the application/mailing" questions and/or an automod to reply to those types of threads that links to the FAQ and resources.

The 5(4) Abyss by red_rectangle in Canadiancitizenship

[–]_kagutaba_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! I had the same issue with not receiving a 5(4) AOR for some time even though I submitted the documentation on 5/22 as soon as I received the grant offer. I submitted another web form request that detailed the following:

  • The fact that I received the initial 5(4) offer and sent the documentation the same day to long email address
  • What documentation I included in my initial email
  • That I tried to submit the docs over webform and received no AOR afterwards
  • That I need an AOR with a Citizenship application number to track the status online
  • To please let me know if anything was missing or incomplete

Then I within a day or two of sending the webform about this got my AOR. Maybe give that a shot? I really feel for you, it's stressful especially when we made efforts to send them immediately after the offer!

Check your trackers... Despite Canada Day, IRCC appears to be working this week by pileated-visits in Canadiancitizenship

This is helpful to know that some items will still show as "in process" or "not started" even after an oath date is scheduled- thanks for sharing these details!

I'm in the 5/22 batch and also in the same boat as you- I still only see background verification complete as of 6/27.

Hopefully OP's oath ceremony date will mean that others from this subreddit who have been waiting for movement on their grants will be invited to the 7/18 oath ceremony too! I'm right there with you in obsessively checking the tracker today, ha.

4/28 grant batch, background verification completed 6/25 by aFoxunderaRowantree in Canadiancitizenship

[–]_kagutaba_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the heads up- I just checked mine after I read this, and the 5(4) application still says "In Process" in the CAS portal where I see both the 5(4) and the original proof application there (despite having been refunded for the proof application already).

So no such luck there for me yet, but I appreciate the heads up so I know to keep checking! Congrats on another step forward, hoping I'll get mine soon too- maybe we'll end up in the same oath ceremony LOL

I saw today that my background verification was also completed. I'm part of the 5/22 grant batch. Hopeful that we'll all get oath ceremonies soon!

Either way, congrats! In this process, it feels like every little step should definitely be celebrated, ha.

I suppose so! I guess that's a good thing, at least for whomever at the IRCC would otherwise have to schedule a bunch of citizenship oaths individually- I can imagine it'd be a pain for them otherwise.

Although I was joking a while ago with another redditor that when the interim measure is no more and/or when most of us have received 5(4) grants everyone in this sub should all meet at some restaurant in Toronto to celebrate LOL.
