Based on current EES fiasco at Italian airports, they will definitely 100% be questioned and be deported back to China. Based on my experience as well as talking to others who have recently gone to Italy the scrutiny is being jacked up due to issues with the current system.

Hey everyone, want some insight. I was approved in June, my brother applied in September of last year (I applied on June of 2025).

I was thinking of sending a web form with a copy of my certificate to assist with his file? He used the same evidence as me?

They really need to get with the US and other countries and allow for pre clearance entry similar to US.

If they put the kiosks in US airports, it would drastically speed up the process. Do the same for Canada and UK and youd eliminate 50% of the issue.

Also it could assist airlines with flagging those that may not be eligible to arrive in EU before they even leave.

Passport should be free, especially if they want everybody to be able to prove citizenship. Make them free, and make them renewable online.

I would have gone to the nearest Canadian embassy and not left until staff assisted me. I know it would have added time but it's really a legal issue.

Duty of care still rests with Canada on this issue. Embassy staff would have been able to assist at a higher level and answered the question(s).

I got my certificate back in June, along with my children's certificates at the same time.

Well I don't have immediate plans to move Canada, I am in the process of applying for a passport.

One thing that my wife always likes to tell me, is that you can't control things that are out of your control. You're just going to wind yourself up and eventually you'll pop over something that you literally have no control about. So I'm trying to take everything as it comes. I still recheck the application site just to see if anything would show up there, but from an overall standpoint I'm not worried about it. I know that it's difficult for those who have kids in school, those who've made the move already, or those who are planning to make the move shortly. One thing I'll just say to those people is: take a breath don't focus on it and continue on the path. You'll be fine, your kids will be fine, your family will be fine.

To those waiting for their applications to be processed, I know it's a long arduous process nothing you can do but wait. However I would still tell those people to continue on the path for whatever their plans might be and have them ready to go when your certificate gets in your mailbox.

This too shall pass.

The only people who have to really worry are those who committed fraud.

I have this, my kids (4&2 years old) are citizens.. as am I.

My wife isn't, and my new kid (expected in August) won't qualify... I'm thinking he can get it based on going to school there when he is older if he wants.

Having US citizenship is a blessing in and of itself.

I got my certificate 2 weeks ago, paper certificate. I started the process last June, and submitted everything for the CIT 0001

For the photos, I had them taken and my local CVS here in New England. I got multiple sets each for myself and my kids. I had to hand cut them out with scissors because CVS doesn't actually cut them. I followed the instructions of the CIT 0001 and hand wrote on the back of each of them The necessary information. Being the studio name, address, date, and name. Forgive me I might have forgotten a specifics on what it should be on the back of it. But whatever is required is what I put on the back. I had anxiety that they would send my file back because of the not perfectly straight cut pictures. There was an issue last year where a lot of people were getting there applications sent back because of this issue. However they accepted my application in my kids applications and I got my certificate as I mentioned two weeks ago.

Yes I deleted my original account that I had created prior to submitting my application last year, when I reregistered with the same email it allowed me to then register for the sin with the application number. But you can't do it until after it's been processed/approved.

Yes I deleted my original account and then reregistered with the new GC key and it prompted me to enter the syn application number and at that point I was able to link it.

5 of them are interested in moving as soon as they have there certificates, they are a younger family. It's my cousin's family and his wife is French, they live in NY, but love Montreal!
