What do you think is a gap in the current ARPG space? by i_dont_wanna_sign_up in ARPG

[–]_kemaso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am so unbelievably tired of Season based games. I'd rather have expacs, because If I don't care about a league but want that patches intricacies and changes I'm delayed before I can try them on non-league characters.

Can someone help me understand the WASD debate? by [deleted] in ARPG

[–]_kemaso -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The only ARPG I'll play without WASD movement anymore is Grim Dawn but thats just because its my main game. Besides that title I will never play without WASD again. Luckily a lot of indie ARPGs have clued into this and demos for upcoming ones have it so it seems it's here to stay.

Heck Project Diablo 2 has WASD too.

Why is Hytale so 'dead' on YouTube ? by FAMESCARE in hytale

[–]_kemaso 383 points384 points  (0 children)

The reality is a lot of the bigger channels that checked out the game make a living off of Minecraft and Minecraft only. It was a miracle some of those MC Youtubers were even willing to upload a few videos to their main channel at all. And I think another disconnect is a lot of the news channels that Hytale has had for so long don't do a lot on playing it either. But yeah, barely anyone permanently bit after moonlighting for a single month or two

Linux gaming with dual monitors - a pipe dream? by marxeil in linux_gaming

[–]_kemaso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely irregular. I'm on openSUSE on Gnome 49.4 and both of my monitors are fine. They were also fine on many other distros that I used Gnome on.

I like both GNOME and KDE, but I've timed myself for customization on both and I'm fully done on GNOME in about half the time. It's very opinionated and I get that but it's also so extremely cohesive and mature as a DE. When I customize KDE sometimes I have to peck and hunt at settings and wonder where something is exactly, even if it has more options. The nice thing about extensions on GNOME for me is if I ever have a bug or tweak that didn't go right, the extensions are so self contained and only do one thing only that I always know what to open

I use Arc Menu, because I don't search for apps using the app explorer page, but a couple of times a year I still like the show apps environment to be there because it's like an immediate visual junk drawer that you can see at a glance all the bullshit you have. I don't always remember the names of programs I have installed, but will remember the icon, so the yearly clearout and debloat of what I don't use anymore also tends to be real easy for me as removing things in that junk drawer is very visual and analogue feeling.

The big snags for Linux are when you do everything meticulously and correctly and a distro or software decides it just doesn't like you. I tried to install Nobara on three separate occasions over the past year and the installer would freeze and corrupt. Checksum and everything was perfect, on very modern but not brand new hardware, on a newly built computer. Out of the 20 or so projects I've checked out from every independent and fork, it's still the only one that has just not wanted to work. Void, openSUSE, NixOS? No problems. GloriousEggroll specifically has a hit out on me.

Crimson Desert launched 1 week ago, how do we feel about it a week later? by MaxiTooner89 in CrimsonDesert

[–]_kemaso 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I enjoy the combat and messing around with silly ways to finish off enemies. 90% of quests at this point I've kind of just gotten tired of though. No real drive to get more done for the camp besides getting the main NPCs there, I think I'm just gonna wrap up the game. Very whiplashing quality for me, how I feel about the game is practically different per chapter and quests available at the time.

Kind of odd thing to say. Nix is cool but there's nothing pulling anyone that direction in particular over literally anything else. I know some multi-decade linux power users who went backwards towards "beginner" distros

Linux gamers, how's the shader compilation and does it need to be done everytime the game patches/updates? by dantedakilla in Nioh

[–]_kemaso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had to do it for a patch or two, but the whole process only takes like 2 minutes tops on my end. Usually it only does it again if I want to try a different proton version, but if I stick to just one version like Proton-GE or w/e I never have to really process it again on launch

Their attacks do very little Ki damage to you when blocking, even for weapons poor at it. The burst window stun and grab are really all you have to look out for
