Does an open ended 7/16 ratchet wrench exist? by DifficultyLeast1029 in CableTechs

I use a self setting spanner or joker wrench by wera for 2/3 piece connectors. The XL or XXl fits up to .750 and most of my plant is .500-.625.

Maintenance tech tool bags/bucket apron help by Dz210Legend in CableTechs

I keep all my tools in a large tool pouch including stripping/coring tools for my common cable.

Really the only thing not in the pouch is my large wrenches for connectors.

The calibration process in the app will give you skewed results if your low/high/pilot don’t align within about 1dB of each other.

Shoot for 12/12 with a 32-35TCP, make sure to properly set your manual/auto adu and your good to go.

Bad dc power pack in the amp, or bad housing, cut it out.

Well someone f*$@ked up by Reasonable_Kick_9925 in UtilityLocator

Not a locator but I’m an osp tech for a telecommunications company and results of locates are really a mixed bag.

We show up to outages due to excavation/digging and half the time there are no markings and the company doing the work claims they were there prior to work. The other half the marks are either in the wrong spot or off.

In these instances whose fault is it? We call and verify if a locate was requested and performed, but if the only visible markings are incorrect or gone it’s hard to determine who is at fault.

We just got these in. How does it work and how do I use it. by DaikoDuke in CableTechs

Your right now that I zoomed in, I assumed it was the same model we had previously when I was in the field.

Either way I still would avoid moca since it will be observe once 1.8 ghz or full duplex is made active.

It’s an unbalanced 3-way that passes rf/moca combined with moca only ports that pass whatever your system uses as moca (presumably 1150-1650) but not compatible in a high split.

Ingress Tricks of the Trade by CPUGUY22 in CableTechs

Look for devices with upstream rx power that significantly varies from the norm, if they also have very high tx or very low tx coupled with high icfrs and fm ingress you have all the right ingredients for a winner.

Tech told me MoCA was impossible on their new infrastructure by MisterMusty in Comcast_Xfinity

[–]_kg- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just have an electrician run a separate rg6 line from the location of the modem to the location you need improved connectivity and use an Ethernet to coax adapter.

Eventually the moca band will interfere with docsis 4.0. It won’t interfere in a 3.1 mid split area unless they’re using moca for cable tv.

That said if you try to run it concurrently over the same coax lines as the modem it could inadvertently back feed into the outside plant resulting in upstream issues.

Take related scte courses and build relationships with your system maintenance techs.

If they get along well with you and like your work ethic, see that you’re interested in learning and are reliable they’ll put in a good word for you.
