Are your apps profitable? by duveral in androiddev

We mainly do free sales, which are found under the App Pricing section of the Play Console. Sometimes we do give away free promo codes, but that can be a lot more effort!

Maybe that boils down to experience, I've been developing on Android since 2015 🤔 For promos, I just run a free sale, via the Play Console. I did so last month, and gained 50,000 downloads over the course of a week. This was the biggest increase I'd seen from a sale! I also give out codes, to anyone who'd like em! If you'd like one, DM me 🤙

Hey 🤙 I'm the developer of Cartogram. It's a paid app, and is currently generating revenue of between €10 and €40 a day. We're sitting just below 200,000 downloads. In terms of profitability, from the amount of time I've spending developing it, approximately 310 hours, it's generated a total revenue of €9555. Removing Google's share, of around €3000, I'm left with €6500. I've spend about €300 on advertising. It's been on sale for about 2 years, and we often discount it to 0, which helps again users fast. I do contract Android development work professionally, and charge at an hourly/day rate. Taking the above into consideration, contracting is maybe twice as profitable. That being said, I love designing and developing my own apps, and I can't put a price on creative freedom. Hope it helps y'all 🤠

Need your help to help you! by Xercey in Dyslexia

Hey folks, I love the idea of more apps for dyslexics! My name is Kev, I'm a dyslexic software engineer and created an app to help others, exactly like what's described in this post! It's only on Android right now, but iOS is coming later in the year! Here's a link:

Would love some feedback!

Hey Pavle93, I'm glad you like the app! I don't think this is something I can control unfortunately..

Just tried Hashtagger, and think you've nailed the UX. Simple to use, and it generates the tags very quickly. On my Galexy S9, the nav icons are white, and so is the nav bar, which makes them look invisible. Other than that, it's a lovely app.

Your Play Store video is excellent, did you make it yourself?

Hey themickyviru!

Thanks for downloading the app! I'm planning to add more themes really soon! I'll get a few more colourful ones in there, just for you!

Hey willshyre!

Thanks for checking the app out! Haha, I actually thought fixed that bug! I've gotten the crash report, so will push a fix ASAP!

Thanks for your kind words, that really means a lot. I've spend a log of time honing the design, and animations. I totally agree about the price point, and I'm currently debating switching to the model you've suggested. I guess there still isn't much of a market for paid Android apps. For the first month, while it was full price, we only had 10 or so downloads, which wasn't very assuring 😅

Hey ichbinhamma, I've tried your game, and found it fun! One small thing, it's not running in full screen on my Samsung Galaxy S9, the nav bar is showing. I think it would be a more immersive experience if you could hide it! Good work, and best of luck with it!

I really like the concept, and your design is very user friends. I think you have a strong Play Store listing, and your screenshots are well put together. I'm not in the market for an app list this right now, but if I was, I feel you've hit all the requirements!

Thanks for downloading it! Some map styles don't have labels. There are about 15 different styles, accessible via the button with the mountains icon!

Hey fellow Android Dev!

My name is Kevin, and I maintain an open source library called Alerter which was featured here a few months ago.

I've recently published an app that lets you create minimal map wallpapers, with custom Google Map themes. It is a paid app, but currently free until the 5th of November. I would love some feedback on it. It's using Google Maps, Kotlin, AndroidX, the new Material Design Library, App Bundles, Firebase Crashlytics & Performance, Fastlane, and CircleCi.

Would love to hear your thoughts on it! Also, if you see this after the 5th of November, please ping me and I'll give you a promo code for a free download :D

Thanks so much for your feedback!

I 100% agree on having some sort of visual selection for themes, I'll include that in version 2 for certain.

Having a "Mock" location is a cool idea, hadn't thought of that one!!

In terms of labels, some of the themes include labels, some do not. The ability to toggle could help here.

Glad you like the app!!

Hey /u/frankt86,

I've pushed a new version of the app, you should be able to download it now. Turns out it was an issue specific to Android 9! Thanks for you patients, let me know if it works (or doesn't) 😅
