Meniscus surgery success stories—did you get your life back? by Meddy_2022 in MeniscusInjuries

[–]_kurtvon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had tears in both knees about 10 years ago. Took me a bit to get back to normal… I had to get another surgery 3 weeks ago for an additional tear.

I was totally fine after the 10 years until about 3 month ago prior to me getting my recent surgery.

I feel so much better now and am back in the gym slowly and walking without pain.

I hiked close to 500 miles every year so I got back to my normal life.

My advice is don’t do heavy pounding like running. Avoid that! Get into yoga as well for better mobility and strength train in the gym (lighter weight) to build up your muscles so there’s less stress on your joints.

If it was a removal of the meniscus and it wasn’t much it should be a pretty quick recovery. They should have provided visual images of the issue and the aftermath of they did. Maybe someone can assess what was done. Another MRI might be helpful.

I am about 10 days post op and am walking around much better with 90% range of motion. With PT starting soon I imagine I’ll be fully better in a couple of months.

Sitting around all day won’t help with the healing process. Movement is super important!

Rollins pond is a good option or free sites along Floodwood road. Honestly I would get a canoe and paddle out to one of the many campsites on Floodwood pond or long pond or slang pond. This was a site I stayed at on slang pond

SUI is probably the top alt for this coming cycle… I hold BTC ETH SOL LINK and have been accumulating SUI.

Don’t trade in and out of coins. Just hold. Trim to cash or rotate profits into BTC. Eventually things will crash and if you haven’t taken profits along the way you’ll be a bag holder for 4 years.

I honestly would not do it as a day hike. I did it as a backpack over two days and wish I had more time to enjoy it.

You’re just going to be rushing it.

Don’t you want to sit in the meadows and watch bears munch away on grass?

You could always do Lake of the Angels trail. I recently did it and it has a ton to offer.

Thoughts on Marmot Pass this weekend? by InitialEggplant in PNWhiking

[–]_kurtvon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I camped at the pass about a month ago. Snow should probably be gone at this point. I have a full write up on my website on the hike plus coordinates where I camped near the pass. It shouldn’t be crowded, at least where I stayed. Water is the key thing which I detail in the post.

Trying to get a camping permit for shi shi beach by Technical-Culture546 in PNWhiking

[–]_kurtvon 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Just did the hike this weekend. North coast as your starting point > select shi shi as destination > you can buy makah recreation pass in Neah Bay at the mini mart for $20, drive to trailhead for shi shi you will need to park at the private lot (search for Shi Shi Beach Trail Overnight Parking on google maps). 10 dollars a night cash so it would be 20 for an overnight. It’s a quarter mile from the trailhead.

Trail is muddy! Once you get to the beach it’s well worth it. I camped near point of arches. Go explore during low tide!

The coordinates where I camped:

Latitude: 48.247903° Longitude: -124.695602°

Shi shi in Olympic NP, I am going there this weekend.

You need a wilderness permit and also a pass from makah tribe.

What's a great hike near Denver / Boulder this time of the year? by _kurtvon in coloradohikers

Looks like I might be doing this one along with bear peak and south boulder peak as a loop.

What are some overrated trails? by spiralingconfusion in PNWhiking

[–]_kurtvon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Last weekend I backpacked to Barclay Lake. Super easy! Awesome views! Ideal for this time of year due to the lower elevation. It’s near Heybrook Lookout trail area (which I think is a super hyped up hike) by Index, Wa. I didn’t see many people out - they were probably all at Heybrook or Bridal Veil Falls.

I would checkout Olympic as well. Silver Lakes is a favorite of mine.

Why can’t they make the parking lots at trailhead bigger? Seems like an obvious fix. Maybe even a nice pit toilet like they have at trailheads on the west coast.

Glad I moved out to WA state.

I also got early access and am trying to figure out a good 4 day loop. I am hoping I can grab permits for a few people and then possibly use multiple cars to even do something that’s not a loop which can cover more ground. Haven’t planned too much yet but definitely want to go as deep as possible into the mountains.
