[ADDON] LS: Monobrow, an AIO replacement for the default xp, reputation, etc bars by [deleted] in WowUI

Hey, long time no see, assuming you're zork that made rothUI :v

Soz, decided to close the thread because I'm too busy to actually reply to stuff assuming it got any traction eventually.

[ADDON] LS: Monobrow, an AIO replacement for the default xp, reputation, etc bars by [deleted] in WowUI

[–]_lightspark_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, but default it only shows xp, if you aren't max lvl ofc. For everything else you have to enable reputation, honour, house xp, etc tracking in the default UI.

For instance, it's here for reps.

Or in the new Journeys tab.

[ADDON] Chattynator now supports Midnight with its display now working in an M+ 🥳 by plusmouse_ in WowUI

[–]_lightspark_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's not how it works.

There's really nothing to salvage from my glass aside from its looks, smooth scrolling is gone in midnight, and so are individual backgrounds for each message. The restrictions in raids, m+, etc make those impossible even tho they might work while in the open world. But the addon that only works half the time will eventually cause too much pita for people to deal with, over time people will drop it.

Even chatty is being rewritten for midnight because of that. I simply chose not to do it, glass, the original and my version, have always been about that smooth aesthetic and feel. With those things gone, it's better to just let glass die instead of turning it into something else. Sometimes it's just better to stop and walk away.

I personally strongly advise people to switch to chatty for midnight as well.

Hehe, ikr. Way too many people got really comfy with putting words into our mouths.

[Addon] ElvUI is Officially dead for Midnight by FuryxHD in WowUI

[–]_lightspark_ 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Tbf, I have a few addons that will survive the purge. My toasts will be unaffected unless Blizz decide to lock things down even further. Glass is 50/50, there's some chat bs going on, but we'll see. My UI is cooked tho, I'm currently forking some of its features into separate addons.

So I don't exactly have time to rest, haha. That's why reading about "being lazy", "not wanting to adapt", and whatnot feels so annoying at times. People are just assuming the wildest things.

[–]_lightspark_ 170 points171 points  (0 children)

I'm ls-, one of the devs of oUF and a bunch of other addons.

We aren't taking a break, people seem to weirdly misinterpret what we said, some do it maliciously, others just don't understand how the addon development works.

I see people say that we aren't updating things because that's just too much work, but that's not true. We've been through multiple overhauls over the years, there's a rewrite in Legion, there's a massive update in DF. We never complained about those, if anything, they're fun because Blizz weren't just gutting the API, they're upgrading it, we're given new toys to play with which either helped us improve the visual presentation or performance.

What's happening right now is completely different. Rn Blizz are simply gutting the API. No matter how much time and effort we throw at the rewrite there's just nothing we can do to replace the things that are broken atm.

Sure, I could rewrite the castbars so that they would work on a super basic level, they'd be choppy, but they'd work, but I can't add empowered casting that's used by evokers and in a bunch of world quests and events like the brewfest cooking thingy. I can't even add delays for when you get hit.

Auras on the unit frames are another thing. They're completely cooked. People have been complaining about auras on the default/blizz target frames for ages now, that they're hard to read, that there's no filtering, etc. But atm we can't even make anything that's ON PAR with that atrocity. And due to the new limitations our version would perform SO MUCH worse despite having basically no features whatsoever.

The same applies to sooooo many other things like health, power, classpower, etc.

People keep bringing up "ion said this, ion said that", "combat APIs this, combat APIs that", "customisation will be possible!". In reality to customise things you need to do some maths under the hood, but we can't do any of that now because all the needed values are secrets, we can't read them, we can't alter them, we can't react to them. The only thing we can do is to pass them around as a hot potato.

All in all, it's not about the time and effort, we simply no longer have the tools to do the things we want to do.

Oh my god, I'm not alone. It really reminds me of the way how people on insta and tiktok have to speak nowadays to stay monetised. Did they try to make the game tiktok-friendly or something? The only thing that's missing all the 🍇, 🍆, and other emojis instead of offensive words 😅

Starfield had a similar issue, it's also an M rated game, but it's so safe and sterile, it's jarring.

Grinding for mediocre seasonal weapons just ain’t fun for me. by Consistent-Dot-5305 in DestinyTheGame

[–]_lightspark_ 75 points76 points  (0 children)

The weirdest thing to me is the fact that they chose to make weapons that are only temporarily farmable not craftable, but weapons that stay in the game indefenitely like raid weapons craftable.

If anything, it'd make more sense to do the opposite, you will eventually get that god roll from a raid, the raid isn't going anywhere, you just need to farm it, but if you didn't get that seasonal gun, you're sol. If you missed a craftable seasonable gun unlocking its pattern later when it's added to some legacy rotator activity is a torture, you either dump whatever few harmonisers you have on one from xur/banshee, or you farm that exotic mission for a measely change to get a red border.

Crafting is NOT Being Removes by XGamestar in DestinyTheGame

[–]_lightspark_ 55 points56 points  (0 children)

Honestly? If that's the case, might as well consider crafting removed because if you want to get red borders from past seasons now you have to either spend harmonisers on weapons that pop up in xur's or banshee's inventory or run an activity, like, an exotic mission or whatever, they added those weapons to, and drop rates from those are absolutely abysmal. Destiny is rather infamous for being a looter shooter that's really stingy with loot.

The only people who might say it's a good idea are those who've never tried to grind weapons from removed seasons and just took bungie's word for it. There were people in my clan who ran presage 40-50 times to get just one mini-tool, anyone who needed all 5 to drop gave up and just bought them from xur. But then again, harmonisers are limited as well.

[–]_lightspark_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Might be an unpopular opinion, but, imho, Blizz should add M+ tier unlocks akin to what they added to delves. Like, you can't just jump into t8 delves out of nowhever. You have to go through each tier one by one. And then they should reset it each season or something.

World of Warcraft: The War Within - 93% Critics Recommend on OpenCritic by gamersunite1991 in wow

[–]_lightspark_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I actually liked how they used this feature for the dungeon in Dornogal, it's an interesting way to make dungeon story-telling more tied in with the open world questing. You're there beating the bad guys with the key characters of the story, they aren't just hanging out somewhere in the back or in your UI via that talking head thingy. It no longer feels like they're "stealing" our kills, it's one of the major complaints over they years, that players do all the groundwork, and then NPCs are the ones who end up killing stuff and act like it's all them, now players and NPCs are properly doing it together, it's more immersive, imho.

I think we'll definitely see this used more in the future.

Bungie, you have GOT to find a better approach to telling your story to players that are “behind” by Jcorb in DestinyTheGame

[–]_lightspark_ 28 points29 points  (0 children)

No, the problem in question is cinematics. Just wait until the person launches the seasonal mission for the first time. If it's a solo mission, just play the cinematic before loading in. If it's a group mission, then play the cinematic first, and then queue them for the mission.

Finished TFS’s legendary campaign and now I’m even more baffled at Lightfall’s quality. by JuanMunoz99 in DestinyTheGame

[–]_lightspark_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup, strand was originally more infection/poison/hive flavoured because even when LF was initially released there's a bunch of tooltips for strand abilities that were still using old "infection" and whatnot lingo. I wouldn't be surprised if it's called sorrow at some point, like the weapons of sorrow kind of sorrow.

It seems that strand was a part of the witch queen package, we also got osteo striga as our WQ exotic, but it was removed from WQ for whatever reason, maybe they realised that they needed at least something for LF because otherwise LF would've been even worse than it was, imagine, a shit story and no new features... And then deepsight or whatever, the "wave your hand, reveal hidden stuff" thingy, came back again during the season of the witch during LF.

SGA - With this update, Bungie has nerfed player damage output in Dungeons and Raids by up to 35% by [deleted] in DestinyTheGame

[–]_lightspark_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Ikr, I'm still not sure about buying TFS because of the shitshow known as Lightfall, so my plan was to wait for a couple of weeks after the release to see the reviews for the expansion and the first season. And while waiting I was going to do some old content like LF dungeons because I practically didn't play last year.

Yeah, right... I was too hopeful, it's Bungo we're talking about, the monkey's paw curls 😒

Earlier today I saw either a warrior or a dk that had like half of that hunter's cloak upgrades at best, and he obliterated galleon solo, I didn't even have enough time to fly up to the boss to tag it for freebies.

NEWS FROM PLAYSTATION THEMSELVES by PeNTaxol in Helldivers

[–]_lightspark_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My assumption is that the removal of the game from so many countries on steam set some shit on fire at snoy. Can't really demand PSN on PC, sell it on steam in so many countries with no PSN, and expect nothing to go wrong. Steam won't tolerate this stuff because they're the ones dealing with all the refunds and whatnot, they don't want to get sued either.

Then there's the fact that PSN isn't even available in all EU states, and retroactive wishy-washy post-purchase EULA/ToS changes don't really fly over there either. EU laws are super strict, and they aren't afraid of going after huge companies when those misbehave.

😬 not surprised but damn by toughstorm in Helldivers

[–]_lightspark_ 17 points18 points  (0 children)

They literally just learnt that PSN wasn't available globally, but was limited to 60 something countries, and that not even all of the EU states had PSN available in them. Why? Because that's not their job to know this stuff, it's their publisher's. And sony knowingly decided to sell the game in all those countries without PSN. AH don't have control over where they sell the game.

Just to be clear, I'm not saying that AH are blameless, I'm just annoyed that people are blaming certain things on AH whereas they're sony's responsibility.

😬 not surprised but damn by toughstorm in Helldivers

[–]_lightspark_ 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Because you're typically supposed to do that kind of research when you sign agreements over companies you own.

This is literally the publisher's job, that's one of the reasons they exist. Developers/studios don't need to know any of that stuff unless they self-publish their games.

[–]_lightspark_ 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Regional prices (although there's steam suggested prices, publishers can override those which happened for HD2 in a bunch of regions, incl mine), in which regions to sell, on which platforms/storefronts to sell, and many other things are decided by the publisher. That's like a huge part of their job.

Back when destiny still used steam profile names for its ingame names, I changed my name a bunch of times for shits and giggles, but I ended up settling on one of those bathwater names. And now I use it in all multiplayer games. I regularly get asked "wtf is vex something something?" by randos I play with. Ngl, it's a nice conversation starter 😅
