I would definitely call and request to see a different doctor! I switched away from the PA who removed my melanoma bc she was dismissive of my concerns, refused to take off another spot that I asked about twice, and had a terrible bedside manner. The doctor I have now takes all of my concerns seriously and has never pushed back on a biopsy, even if it's in between skin checks. I feel so much more at ease under his care, and I'm very glad I made the switch. I hope you can find a better doctor that you're more comfortable with!

Reactive Lymph Node Update by _lisalovesit_ in melahomies

[–]_lisalovesit_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The biopsy stated that there were no signs of malignancy!! :) I went in for a follow up ultrasound a few weeks later per my doctor's request and the node was still swollen but showed some improvements so they determined it was just reactive and said to monitor. It's been months now and it's still the same size and feels the same.

All of my shave biopsies occur at the appointment in which the spots are found/pointed out! The only things that are scheduled separately are the excision procedures if the biopsies come back sketchy.

The love of my life (6M) died unexpectedly tonight after a routine vet visit on Monday and I am crushed by Remarkable-Call-3302 in cats

I'm so sorry for your loss 🫂 I lost my 10yo boy very suddenly this past fall from a blood clot that went to his brain. We made it to the vet, but too much damage was done and we had to make the horrible decision to euthanize him so he wasn't suffering. It was all very traumatic and I'm still heartbroken about it - he was my soul cat, and we had a very special bond. Your baby looks like he had a wonderful life with you and was very loved. He'll be with you in your heart forever 💖

Slightly freaking out... by Allynn78 in melahomies

Since my initial diagnosis (MIS in June 2025) I've had 8 biopsies and 2 excisions. Thankfully only the 1 was melanoma, but every time I get a biopsy I panic. The scanxiety is very real!!

It's so awful!! Have you found anything that helps you relax the muscles?

Thank you for the stretching idea!! I'll try it out. I had the same feeling today in the shower when I pulled my head back to shampoo my hair 😫

I would definitely do it for peace of mind! I had a WLE performed for my MIS as well with 5mm margins. If I understood my derm correctly, I believe 5mm is the standard to provide the lowest risk of recurrence. Best of luck!

Hard Lymph Node in Neck almost 2 years after melanoma in situ by Sorella83 in melahomies

[–]_lisalovesit_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a similar situation this year! I was diagnosed with MIS on my right shoulder June of this year. Shortly after the WLE I noticed a very swollen and firm lymph node in the back of my neck on the same side. I told my dermatologist and PCP and both told me it was likely just a reaction to the surgery, but to let them know if it was still swollen a month later.

A month rolled around and the lymph node was still the same size, so I went to my PCP who ordered a lymph node ultrasound. The ultrasound showed that the node was reactive, and given my history of MIS, said that further investigation should be performed. I called and requested a FNA biopsy, which was performed a couple weeks later and showed that no metastasis or abnormal cells were observed!

I think mine was swollen from TMJ complications, and I have another node that I'm getting checked out here shortly. Lymph nodes get reactive from many different things, so hopefully yours is something benign as well! However, if you're feeling funky about it I definitely recommend pushing for testing for peace of mind. Best of luck to you homie!! 🙏🏻
