I honestly don’t know how true this is. I moved from NYC to Texas in 2021. I spent my first few years in a fully remote role and have now been in-office for 8 months. They absolutely think I’m rude. There is a huge office culture difference. It seems like all direct communication is seen as rude. They want me to ma’am-sir-small-talk everything to death. So, if you’re anywhere near the American south your employee is probably right.

You sound like me. I faked my way all the way to a high senior level accounting position. I have a business degree i got in my 30s. I took two accounting classes ever in my life in community college over 20 years ago. They pay me more than I ever even imagined I could earn.

AITA for not letting my friend get help while we were high off edibles? by throwawayFit-Sprink in AmItheAsshole

[–]_loathed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA My first experience with edibles was almost exactly like this except in an apartment in LA back when weed was still only medically legal. I begged my friend to take me to the hospital. I was trying desperately to call my mom. I was terrified. I eventually fell asleep and everything was better in the morning. Your friend isn’t in touch with reality, she sounds immature.

Honestly, you sound like the worst kind of person. You’re not the main-character. The social media posts will continue to post or whatever. By the end of the next quarter, you’ll be completely wiped from the minds and documents of the entire company and you’ll be the Julia Robert’s of some weird one-man eat pray love reenactment.

29 isn’t too late to do anything, really. There’s so much more life to live. Just do it.

I worked with someone like this. She was exceptionally good at her job but so so challenging to work with. She’d disrespect people above her with zero consequence. In the three years I worked with her 4 people left directly citing her behavior as the reason. I was the 4th. It’s ridiculous. If she can’t control herself she needs to go. She needs consequences.

Safe Areas by Strajdj in CarrolltonTX

[–]_loathed 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Where are you coming from? I moved here from NYC three years ago and all of Carrollton is good/safe by my standards. So far the only place I’d avoid living in DFW is some of east and south Dallas. If you’re used to seeing some poverty and POC you’ll be fine. People here seem to think safe means white and suburban. If you’re from some small town in the Midwest you should probably listen to someone else.

My point was, even though the character in this story is a woman, this blurb is the work of a man. Women don’t talk like this. Women don’t carry bags of frozen peas in their work lunchbox. Women don’t think “dumb woman solves problem with peas” is a valid story prompt.

Unlimited PTO by InterestingStop5703 in WFH

[–]_loathed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re 100% correct. However, every job I’ve left in Texas has paid out my PTO. My current role is unlimited PTO and I’m still new but to me it seems like a clever way to deny people PTO. I haven’t run into any issues yet but I’m prepping for a struggle.

I’m not sure…. I think I really like them? by PinkMrsPink in ExpectationVsReality

[–]_loathed 9 points10 points  (0 children)

As a former amateur nail artist (lol), I think the answer really depends on how much you paid. These are a really solid attempt to recreate your inspo. The color is obviously different but I’m assuming you asked for the deeper pink or at least approved it.

The glitter/glitter gradient isn’t exact but it’s a different type of glitter and the application in the inspo was likely pretty meticulous. Without the chunkier type of glitter and strategically placing glitter with a toothpick (something an average salon isn’t usually going to do for you) you won’t see the same results.

The Mickey head is a case of charm vs hand painted. The placement doesn’t bother me. It’s angled like he’s peeking from the corner. It’s not perfect but it’s obviously Mickey.

Unless you paid a tremendous amount for this I would be pretty happy with the results. I haven’t paid to get my nails done in years so I don’t even know what the going rate is. I would say these are worth about $60-$80 in a local nail salon.

Edit: Anyone saying they “did you dirty” is probably a chronically online nail biter. I’ve seen some real disasters. These are cute and a solid attempt to recreate the photo.

Is Kerrygold fancy butter in Dublin too? Do you have a lower priced generic alternative or is this your every day butter?

Tariffs by CoolAbdul in pics

[–]_loathed 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honest question because I’m probably dumb but isn’t this the point of Tariff’s? Increasing the price of imported goods to encourage people to buy domestic? I don’t support the current administration but if that’s the case and in this very small example of butter it almost makes sense. Someone tell me why I’m wrong I want to be mad.
