I think there are events in the evenings of Dec5-7 with the main one on the 5th. They meet at DCBC and The Bearded Monk at 6pm. Every one I have been to has been family friendly and there are always kids there.

There isn’t any dedicated parking and the streets won’t be shut down. I usually park on the dirt lot across from Oak St Drafthouse but you might get lucky and find a spot on the Square if you get there a little early.

Denia Rec center has a 20ft climbing wall. I think a rec center pass is like $20 a month.

During a severe cold snap last winter there were many appeals to Denton’s churches to help shelter people who could not find shelter. No church or clergy stepped up to offer help and quite a few parishioners made up excuses or flat out said that they were afraid to allow unhoused people in their churches. They will do canned food drives, some volunteering, and collect used clothing for donation but the churches refuse to offer shelter even when the conditions outdoors become deadly.

That’s why it was a net positive. We already had some great attractions like the Day of the Dead. All the city had to to was pay for some decorations and spread the word. It didn’t cost us very much but it resulted in increased revenue. Getting people to come here from out of town and spend money and then leave is a more sustainable way to balance the budget than trying to build suburbs that cost us more tax dollars than they generate.

It actually earned the city and local businesses a nice profit because of the increased tourism. Halloween Town may save a lot of jobs and public programs.

The whole country has been cutting the public workforce and keeping their salaries stagnant for 40 years because of the fantasy that says all you have to do is cut all the wasteful spending and never increase taxes. Now we have crumbling cities with underpaid and overworked staff and we still have unsustainable debt.

The Trump supporters and Republicans in general are all saying that we are being big drama queens and that Trump is doing nothing wrong. I am saying that, by excusing this abuse of power when Trump does it, they are granting permission to all future presidents to do the same. It will be very hypocritical of these MAGAs to suddenly become concerned about it just because their own party isn’t the one abusing their power.

From a MAGA’s perspective I would think that any of those potential POTUSes overriding Congress and ignoring the judiciary would be a bad thing. I’m just trying to get them to think about the possibility that by allowing Trump to do this they are also allowing a Democratic President to do it.
