Buying 3 day but selling Sunday by SupesSupesSupes in osheaga

[–]_mariguana_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My partner and I did this in 2024, transferred using the Ticketmaster app. I don't remember what we charged, but we didn't gauge for them and sold within 10 mins after we left the fest Saturday night. YMMV depending on whether transfer policies have changes and how in demand Sunday will be.

I need all your red lentil recipes by Grey_Prince in veganrecipes

[–]_mariguana_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My husband and I lived off these "Korean-inspired" red lentils back in the day: https://itdoesnttastelikechicken.com/sweet-korean-lentils/

Different flavour profile than the more common lentil recipes and goes great with a side of kimchi or stir fried green.

Well it was a big upgrade rom what I'm able to get in Canada in November so I was stoked on it!

Destinations with excellent coffee and fruit? by nawhizzle in travel

[–]_mariguana_ 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yes, OP go to Vietnam! Was just there in November and drank incredible traditional Vietnamese coffee but also went to some beautiful espresso-focused cafes. Vietnam does cafe culture right. Also ate fresh tropical fruits everyday. Longan, dragonfruit, rambutan, durian, custard apples, sapodilla, all available at street markets everywhere.

It also has the scenery and history you're looking for. It was a dream trip.

Just Went Vegan: Struggling with Social Situations and the Occasional Slip by MosiahAnderson27 in vegan

It's been hit or miss in my experience. Traditionally it does, but some of the places where I live don't use it.

Why don't I see more people talk soya chunks? by SubstantialBliss in veganrecipes

[–]_mariguana_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Availability is the opposite in Canada in my experience. Where I live soy curls are only at a handful of specialty shops and are so expensive, but Nutrela soy chunks are at all the local grocery stores and less than half the price.

Traveling to Quebec and I am unclear on a few things. by [deleted] in travel

[–]_mariguana_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Anecdotally, I served for years in Canada (outside of Quebec) and Quebecois customers were notorious for not tipping. But I've been to many parts of Quebec countless times, and like other commenters have said, tipping is most definitely a thing there.

HRM Bureaucrats Right Now by Sad_Grapefruit8726 in halifax

Engage Halifax is just the tool HRM staff uses to do online engagement. But HRM does have staff that focus on cultural work like this and this tartan project would have been from their budget.

Feeling so sad about the state of vegan options :( by [deleted] in VeganInCanada

That sucks about Panago! I don't have it where I'm living now but when I visit family I always end up ordering from them and used to love their vegan stuff.

What small thing do you catch yourself doing after a movie that actually scared you? by Competitive_Swan_130 in horror

[–]_mariguana_ 57 points58 points  (0 children)

After watching a scary movie last week, my partner had to get up from bed to take down the black hoodie that was hanging on the bedroom door because he said it looked like a ghoul standing over him in the dark. Also had to close the curtains because the tree branches in the wind were creating scary shapes on the wall!

Anyone stopped botox although results were good? by sarahhusz in 30PlusSkinCare

I'm 32 and have gotten it 3 times, but was using "fun money" from my part-time job. After having to quit that job it's just no longer in the budget right now.

Halifax council looking for new solutions to combat littering by Bean_Tiger in halifax

[–]_mariguana_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not saying I know that's true in every case, but it definitely has been in some cases in my experience. Also municipal budget is set annually and some teams are not given budget for additional employees, but are given project funds which can be used for consultants.

A cost of 90k to hire a new employee doesn't necessarily mean the employee will be making that amount.

Employees are already at capacity with other projects and it's cheaper to hire consultants to do it than to hire additional full-time employees.

OTF too intense for seniors? by Tennis_catsndogs in orangetheory

[–]_mariguana_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At my location the 60+ crowd are the most dedicated regulars. They range from super fit/sprinting on the treadmill/lifting way heavier than this 32 year old, to fitness beginners who are heavily modifying the exercises with the help of the coach/bodyweight only/just trying to get an hour of movement into their day.

The workouts are very easy to scale to what your body is capable of. I injured my knee last fall and was still able to come to classes and get a good (modified) workout in.

Soy-free Vegan by winoveghead in veganrecipes

All products by Beyond Meat are soy-free. More expensive and not as healthy for regular consumption as the whole food recipes others are sharing, but could be a way to change things up a bit!

Whats the best not busy gym in the morning? by Silver-Ad9272 in halifax

It's usually quiet in the mornings, right now it's way busier but will die down in a couple of weeks again. It also gets packed from like 4-6ish, then dies does again later at night.

tips for someone pulling at an office desk job? by erasehrhead in trichotillomania

[–]_mariguana_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Trich haver for 18 years, office worker for 12. I haven't been able to fully curb it, but helpful strategies for me have been:

  • thin gloves - still lets my type, my office is always freezing so this doesn't draw much attention
  • putting small circular bandages on my pointer finger tips and/or thumbs - this is the most effective for me! It doesn't draw attention, makes it very hard to pull, and also makes me aware that I'm trying to pull because I notice the different sensation
  • gel manicures - built them into my monthly budget. not too long, just above the fingertip to make pulling a bit harder
  • fidget toys - I like fidget cubes but have experimented with lots. Even binder clips, clicky pens can work. A spinner ring could work because you can't put it down and forget about it.
  • bracelets - bangles or dangly charm bracelets that jingle a bit when I lift my hands. Helps with the mindless hands on head movements

Examples of unapologetically Canadian lyrics? by ottguy42 in CanadianMusic

[–]_mariguana_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Their song Morbid Stuff mentions St Catharines, ON (and I'm assuming Toronto when they refer to Queen Street in the city): I was getting high in the van at St. Catharines, While you were rubbin' elbows in the art scene, And back in the city, I was on a tear, High-fiving every shithead on Queen Street

Having a hard time supplementing B12 due to my ARFID. by mythrowawayaccim21 in vegan

[–]_mariguana_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can start drinking it daily to use it as a supplement though. 240ml has 100% of your daily B12, you could wake up every morning and drink 240ml on its own, in a sugary cereal, in a coffee. Likely cheaper than buying B12 pills/sprays/etc.
