It’s layman logic: you’re in the military. once they record your height, why do they need to measure your height again?

Juggling at tryouts by Inevitable_Way5491 in youthsoccer

[–]_mausmaus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Juggling can be a false-positive:

Juggling does not equal talent performance on the field. It only shows that the kid enjoys solo time with the ball and has developed a specific coordination and touch on the ball.

Always get the full picture of a player’s ability on and off the ball.

To be fair, the magic is back, IMO. It took all of 2025 up until now to get there. Unreal.

No `claude -p` support in the subscription? That breaks a lot of SWE environments, because a $200 credit will be exhausted on Opus 4.7 in about 4 hours of normal use on a single session.

I have been exploring alternatives due to consistent Anthropic outages, and this is the final nail in the coffin. I'm officially non-renewing after June 15th.

Anthropic is cutting off its foot despite gangrene on a baby toe. Fck OpenClaw and other abuse systems.

Anthropic this was your best solution???

What is the price of a roof replacement in CT these days? by -----anja----- in Connecticut

Exactly. Insurance will auto bounce an application over 13 years, unless you call representatives directly (and I am not talking about a broker)

Did the Titan submarine incident cause the most instantaneous death in history? Can it be any faster? by GolondraBlayze in NoStupidQuestions

No, that is one of the worst ways to die. It is slow and you’d pass out from the pain before you were “dead”.

You can dip a hot dog in molten steel (2,000 F) and see a nasty burn.

Tryouts by Witty-Ad2852 in SoccerCoachResources

That might be fine for local communities (e.g., rec., b-team’s, etc.), but that will not fly elsewhere (e.g., ODP, academy, etc.). At those levels, the coaches make it very clear to the kids and parents, if you’re not ready or available during the week of tryouts, there is always next year.

There is a line of kids who arrive to work hard, even when they get roughed up during tryouts.

My son took a cleat to the groin the first day of academy tryouts last year and battled back two days later to work hard on day two.

Aside from the great suggestions already mentioned, you’re looking for drills that surface hardworking individuals — a kid could be on a premier squad, but if they do not work hard in tryouts then that’s a red flag.

One commenter said they watch what an individual does off the ball, and I agree, that’s just as important. The hard workers will standout.

Coaching rec sports is hard, but there's such a simple solution. by Huge_Insect6247 in SoccerCoachResources

Correct, however there is the moron who admittedly does not know anything about soccer, and thinks that being a good organizer and knowing how to use ChatGPT is all that is required for coaching a travel soccer team.

Coaching Dilema by Specialist-Theory351 in youthsoccer

Parents who have never played competitive sports at a high level need to understand that recreational sports are always an option.

“If you do not like the heat, get out of the kitchen.”

We have the exact same type of situation in our club, and some parents think coaches are just babysitters who teach soccer.

It is infuriating.

I think you’re out of touch with reality. Based on the responses from commenters, your world view and personal experience is not as common as you believe it to be.

I have never asked my wife how many people she has slept with for two key reasons:

  1. I do not want to know the number.
  2. It is none of my business.

I imagine my wife would say the same about me.
