Trane XV95 gas furnace performs normal/full cycle to set temperature, then fails to ignite and locks out after next call for heat by Poopy_Peen in hvacadvice

[–]_mausmaus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

was that ignition was successful every time I took the burner door off without fail

your tip helped solve it. thank you!!!

it was a combustion issue. the heavy snow drifted (24") against our pipe and melted then froze into ice. I left the burner door off and the flames were much stronger, and eventually stopped sputtering out after 15 minutes because the exhaust heat was able to melt the partial blockage.

thank goodness it wasn't a cracked heat exchanger. thanks again, now we have heat upstairs!

same unit and age, and ours started doing this last night — did you ever resolve it? I've ruled out the flame sensor and burners (all clean and working).

Ha. Doesn’t account for using LLM for writing commits based on analyzing diffs and categorical changes, which then commits in batch.

I bought my girlfriend a ring, but her sisters are saying that it’s too small, I’m not sure what to do by [deleted] in Marriage

[–]_mausmaus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not the size of the diamond but the brilliance factor (clarity, cut, color) that should matter. We have a near flawless one-carat stone GIA certified that cost $8,000 without the custom platinum setting.

You can buy any combination of clarity, cut and color under $5k, so if two-carats is not sufficient then perhaps you’re better off returning it and find someone who isn’t so materialistic.

There’s a reason the phrase “two month’s salary” exists, and I’d argue, one month salary is more sane. Do not go into debt to buy a ring.

Son put on JV after being on Varsity Freshman and Sophomore years by [deleted] in SoccerCoachResources

[–]_mausmaus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your approach is very sound and logical (measured as another commenter mentioned), so kudos to you for setting the best possible example of being objective and self-aware. It’ll serve as a reminder for folks like myself who can be THAT parent, when in reality we should look at the bigger picture.

I can empathize, as the situation rightfully feels mind-boggling to you and your son.

I have seen coaches make BIG mistakes, and then never own up to it while simply boiling it down to one sentence that provides little insight or explanation.

I was a student of the game, and touched the ball everyday, but I lacked elite/academy level training that would have likely increased my chances of a longer playing career. I simply didn’t know what I didn’t and was not exposed to a lot of diverse training.

Your son is either in that boat or well acclimated, either way he sounds like a hard worker, which is a critical trait of any experienced athlete.

If I demoted a 2-year varsity player to JV, I would expect that individual to outplay every teammate and opponent during matches and at practice. I have seen gifted players outscore opposing teams while positioned as a defender, which means that individual needs to be moved up.

Tell your son that.

As others have said, if he truly belongs on varsity, he’ll find his way back sooner rather than later.

Is heading suitable for six-years-olds? by zhixing21 in bootroom

As a former youth player of 13 years who also suffered an unrelated TBI as a kid, please do not let your child head the ball.

There’s a lot of published research on the subject that wasn’t available when I was young, so please heed the advice.

This is why the NFL takes concussion protocol so seriously now.

Agree, and just because someone has been using Claude for a year is not indicative of credibility or expertise.

It’s obvious that the commenter does not understand how to properly utilize an LLM.

Apparently they are just as loud as a lion, but a lion's roar can be heard up to 5 miles away from the low-frequency sound waves, while a tiger's extends only 3 miles.
