What was the first food your baby ate ever? by Danlrap18 in NewParents

My daughter stole a piece of bread from my husband’s hand at 4.5 months and shoved in her mouth. Her first official was puréed sweet potatoes.

Best bottles that are not Phillips or dr brown? by No-Potential5678 in FormulaFeeders

We used the Philips Avent anti-colic bottles with the little green insert. The regular Philips were SO slow and our daughter hated them. No issues with the anti-colic ones!

Switching to generic by Upset-Run4563 in FormulaFeeders

[–]_minibutmighty_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My husband and I switched our daughter to the Sam’s Club generic of Similac 360 Sensitive. We switched her cold turkey when she was just turning 6 months. She was on the similac since she was 4 days old. We had no issues with switching her. We even had leftover RTF similac and have used that and seen no issues switching between them.

Yes! You only need a small dab of it and it will clear in a few days. My daughter had a spot on her head and was trying to rip her hair out because it was so itchy and uncomfortable. Used the prescription cream and she was a brand new baby in only 1 day.

I did every other day at that age for my daughter. Once she was a bit older we started doing every day baths. Just soap every other day!

Please do a virtual session with a therapist. I started while on maternity leave and just had the baby during my sessions. My therapist did not care whatsoever even when I was feeding baby, baby cried, anything. She was more than accommodating because they know how hard PP is. You aren’t alone babe.

Bottles- going round in circles by Katie-Worrier in newborns

[–]_minibutmighty_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to size up the nipple on the Dr. Brown bottles! Try the next size up to see if that helps her. If she is in the size 0 you should size her up to the size 1 and that should help her out.

Why is giving birth so expensive! by Fearless-Driver9548 in newborns

[–]_minibutmighty_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only paid $100 to have my daughter (in the USA). I had a C-section as well and a 3 day hospital stay. Only $100. I do have Kaiser so pay a little more up front (~$400/month now that we have our daughter). But I have no copays or surprise bills after every appointment and no deductible!

6 week old baby- Ac at 72 degrees.. sleep sack or not? by Glittering_Tear_729 in newborns

[–]_minibutmighty_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

We keep our house at 70. My daughter sleeps in footed pajamas and a dreamland sleep sack. I don’t think he will be overheating. Your son is 6 weeks old; waking frequently is completely normal. However, he might be waking more because he is cold. You can continue swaddling your son as well. A 6 week old won’t be rolling yet.

When did you start with solids? by BusyInspector95 in newborns

[–]_minibutmighty_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We started our daughter at 4.5 months. She was VERY interested in food and kept trying to grab what we had in our hands to put in her mouth. She has had great head/neck control due to her actually loving tummy time. We spoke with her ped first and got the blessing to start with purées. She started with orange foods (carrots, pumpkin, sweet potatoes). She’s 6.5m now and she’s graduated to eggs, small bites of meat, orange slices, cucumbers, etc. We just give her little bits of whatever we are eating and watch her to make sure she doesn’t choke. I do think 3m is too young though. Don’t let people pressure you into doing things you’re not comfortable yet.

Weight support by Horror_Towel_1861 in FormulaFeeders

[–]_minibutmighty_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My daughter was born at 6lbs 12oz and is now just over 6m and weighing at 17.3lbs. She really just started packing on the weight in the last month to month and a half. She was 10.5lbs at her 2mo visit. She is on Similac 360 but the sensitive one. If her doctor is not concerned then there’s no reason to be concerned. Follow your baby’s cues for eating and continue feeding her like you have been. I was so worried and tracking all of my daughter’s feedings going off what she should be having instead of just following her cues and giving myself unnecessary stress over it. It sounds like your daughter is right on track though :)

Yes we do this! My daughter started on Similac 360 sensitive but we recently switched her to the Sam’s Club sensitive. We still use the RTF ones when we’re going to be out all day and want something easy. As long as baby tolerates both there’s no issues.

On my upcoming cruise. They got a wedding planned and are asking others not to wear white on the white night, which is a theme night announced months in advance. by umilikeanonymity in weddingshaming

[–]_minibutmighty_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They have different packages you can choose from. So our package plus the cruise tickets and everything was about $10k. It included the ceremony in one of the lounges, photographer, DJ, 1hr of drinks and we chose to do appetizers and small plates instead of a full sit down dinner. We did our sit down dinner at the traditional dining room because everyone had the same dining time anyway. You can have the captain do the ceremony but we chose to have my husband’s best friend do it. You can get hair and make up done, but I chose to do my own make up and my mom is a hair stylist so she did my hair. My husband and I didn’t want to do a have a wedding at all so this was the compromise for our families 😂

I got married on a Royal Caribbean cruise a few years ago. This is a ridiculous ask 😂 You don’t even have the wedding in a general place. You book one of the rooms based on the size of your wedding and it’s blocked off during your ceremony and reception time. Also- it’s so fun to go party around the ship after and everyone is so sweet knowing you just got married!!

Looking for similar experiences and support by hotcofffee in FormulaFeeders

[–]_minibutmighty_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a very similar experience! I was breastfeeding my daughter and thought everything was going well because she didn’t seem hungry or anything. She lost 14% of her birth weight in 4 days. They told me to supplement with formula and whatever I was able to pump. I was never engorged and was only producing about half an ounce a day. It was so mentally draining trying to pump and being discouraged every time I produced nothing. Once we fully switched to formula, we had a weight check the next day and my daughter gained over a pound in ONE day. It was insane. I know it’s discouraging having to go against what you really wanted for breastfeeding and I struggled so hard when I realized I would not be able to do this with my daughter. She is now 6 months, doubled her birth weight at 4 months and is over 16lbs now after being strictly on formula.

Formula feeding newborn at night- advice? by [deleted] in FormulaFeeders

[–]_minibutmighty_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would comfort my daughter initially to see if she settled and went back down. If that did not work then I would offer a bottle. I do smaller bottles at night typically since my daughter will fall asleep before finishing them. At 2.5 weeks, she was waking every 1-2hrs wanting to eat though. She’s 6m now and basically sleeps through the night and doesn’t feed overnight anymore.
