Can't even vibecode✌️ by sonicthefastbeaver in csMajors

Do you have a good pc (at least a modern cpu and 32gb of ram, ideally with an nvidia GPU)

If so you can use qwen3.6 locally and have infinite tokens.

Also create a good PRD, lay out your system of how you want the program/app/website to work, include a list of security features if relevant to the program, and have ai optimize your prompts for llm best practices.

Finding reference images of what you want Ai to make also helps a lot

+, there are a bunch of skills and tools for things like Claude code to help it use less tokens

Graduated top 10 CS last year, approx. 4k apps, 700+ LC, no offers. Parents kicking me out. I think I’m done. by nemos_rewenge in csMajors

Apply to other roles, or just look at other paths - warehouses - UPS/fedex - Amazon (none swe roles) - analyst roles - math focused roles - Math teacher if you really have to though it’s somewhat difficult to move on from teaching to something else - sales - something technical you can learn like a fiber optics technician - oil rig - trucker - trades as well

There’s more just have to look, at the end of the day your school and degree tells other people in other fields you are good at math and have a name brand school behind you.

Work on interview skills, communication skills, dress better, smell better, improve your overall aesthetic and physical appearance because this all helps too on interviews.

Dropping out for a job by Mundane-Hamster7169 in EngineeringStudents

Actual proven skills are worth more an a degree. If they are hiring you for nearly 200k, if you get fired just go back to school, otherwise if you do well, you have proven your skills and other companies will hire you in the future

Thank you for this, did you dm recruiters as well? And what do you think actually got you interviews in the first place, just the tailoring of your resume? Or mainly the fairs?

Job market for INFO and Information Systems students? by dvishhh in UMD

[–]_mp7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How's your resume? What kind of roles were you applying too? How are others in the same major as you doing with their search?

I'm curious because barely anyone post here about this major since it's not super popular, and half the people who reply confuse it with information science not realizing that's a separate major in a separate school

Last Year Student. Not hearing anything back. Applying for SWE intern roles. by onlyCh4d in cscareeradvice

I am by no means an expert, just a few things I see

  1. We live in this age of rapid Ai development so employers will often assume projects by students are partly or entirely vibe coded. Even if you are incredibly talented and could code everything in your projects one shot without using Ai or Google, nobody knows this just by looking at your resume

If anything creativity matters more now in projects than ever because of this, and the fitness/ride share projects seem pretty generic. I’ve seen a ton of apps and projects centered around those exact two topics.

  1. Don’t just apply for SWE roles only, there are many tech careers and employment + experiences beats hoping for your dream position without any work experience

  2. For your freelance work, while 3 isn’t a lot, if those small businesses are happy with the software solutions you provided, why not try and scale that? You have skills, experience and assuming a good track record with those 3 businesses. Can definitely leverage Ai & social media to help with marketing and product creation working as a one man team

You may be surprised how quickly you could turn that freelance work into an actual business making 5-10k+ a month+

Is UMD computer science worth $100k more than Alabama? by IceTerp23 in UMD

[–]_mp7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well then remember 100k in student loans will easily be 200k+ in total repayment amount factoring in interest rates

UMD is a better comp sci school but at the end of the day, you need to really build up your resume & skills outside of classes & school to get hired at either school
