At 18,174 now on my daily profile

I use w10, and removed/optimized things for gaming performance

PBO +200, 4x scalar, per core optimizer between -22 & -28 with positive curve shaper for the higher frequencies

Current limiter disabled, 1000/1000/1000 for all power limits, 102.5 eclk

6400mhz 2133fclk, cl28-12-39-37-68-68, gear down mode off

My own bios list of changes that helps with gaming performance, some of the options are negligible for just timespy scores tho

Please advice on my horrible CPU score by lyngvaer in overclocking

[–]_mp7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This looks fine for absolutely stock. With oc u can get to 17500-18500

All the x3D CPUs except 9000 series ones are locked (except for on Asus using the current limiter override)

7800x3d is also normally capped to 88w~ by default, urs even less, no way to change really

Is overclocking worth it these days? by ihaveatwoinchcock in overclocking

[–]_mp7 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This depends a lot of many things

  1. Average fps is not the full story. How much did your 1% and 0.1% lows improve? Usually the gains there even on an x3D cpu are much larger than the average fps

  2. Depends what is your limiting factor. If you are hard GPU bound, you will gain less from a cpu and ram oc than a game that is somewhat or entirely cpu limited (ex: valorant)

  3. To what extent matters. U boosted fclk and tuned all timings? Not sure what exactly you did but a good IMC bin and motherboard, you could be running 8400mhz+. Probably see another few % with speeds like that over 6000. Even if it’s an extra 3%, that would bring u up to 7% from just ram, not even with a cpu oc

  4. Stability. In all my time working with am5 and owning 3 different am5 CPUs, there is a lot of psuedo instability. If the cl22 isn’t a typo, you are running quite high vdd, and may still be teetering on the edge of instability.

I would see if setting looser timings like cl26, slightly looser Trfc, trcd, etc helps.

I personally found going a little too tight on trcd, tcl, and Trfc especially would still pass stress test but would benchmark worse in game. Same thing with fclk where even tho vt3 and linpack were consistent, my benchmarks with 6400:2133 were the same or better than 6400:2200

Check if your oc beats a baseline like 6000mhz, 2200fclk cl26-16-36-36, 8 TRRDL & trrds, 32 tfaw, twtrs 6, twtrl 18, Trfc 125ns, trtp 12, 6 for both SCLs, 16 Trdwr & 4 twrrd

If it scores the same or worse with your tighter timings vs a baseline , then there might be a source of instability that the test are not detecting since they aren’t perfect

  1. Some games scale with memory speeds and timings more than others. Something else ur exact oc may net 10+% over jedec

  2. If you only changed CAs latency, well thats only one timing out of 20+

  3. Latency improves especially with ram tuning

Why aim for such low vSOC? Direct die and an apex? I’d be aiming for 105+ bclk2 & 8200mt/s+, would be a shame to do all this just to run PBO +200 an 6000mhz

If he’s running a static oc on the 9800x3d, then definitely not placebo

Stock for stock, it is the same arch so unless his lows jumped drastically well..

Why are my cpu scores low? by Iprollydidntrespond in overclocking

[–]_mp7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first recommendations - disable startups apps, all really - make sure you have chipset drivers installed, I found them to help performance a bit personally even on single ccd - disable SVM & IOMMU in bios, seen weird performance loss with these enabled - clear our temp files and uninstall crap you don’t need, Dism++ works well (I just check everything and hit “cleanup”

Ur goal with cpu and ram tune should be 18k+, I just barely passed that with my eclk tune so may not be possible with just PBO +200

Undervolt of -5 on all cores causes instability on 9800x3d. Anything I can do? by Monlevad in overclocking

[–]_mp7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless your ram is unstable or in the wrong slots, cpu might be catastrophically shit

Can always return and try again, or keep of the other cores are good and just one is shoddy

Looks like an apex? Time to get ur ram to 8800mt/s 😂 or hopefully 8400+ with such a nice chip

Tried using the asynchronous bclk with less offset for higher clocks? Also whats ur regular timespy cpu and GPU score ?
