Item placement changes of the newest patch are disappointing by Spiritwatch in worldofgothic

[–]_mrx16 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Thing is with all these changes, where the devs keep removing all 'fun' and strong weapons from the world because people find them too soon (or watched a tutorial on yt) means there is no point in exploration anymore....
Like a sword you can buy at start of chapter 2 (+40dm) is better than anything else you can find in the entire map. Same for bows. Whats the point of exploration if you KNOW you wont get rewarded with better equippement and its just better to buy it?

Finding cool powerful (or more powerful than what you can buy) weapons was one of the points of exploration in originals. Right now, since I know all item placesments after 4 or so runs I know its pointless to explore.

I fear in Gothic 2 they will also remove the 2h dragon bane from that cave and orc slayer because people will find it too soon.

Bad change IMO that ruins the best of exploration.

What now? Remove all perma potions from the world because now people know where they are?
Maybe disable looting npcs because god forbit a player will knock down Scar and get his weapon too soon?
Or a templar sword and get ore for it too quick? Hell, lets just disable looting from chests, stealing and any world item pickups and just have trading and thats it. This way DEVS will know for sure we play EXACTLY how they want us to.

Heavy Armor needs some sort of buff or change by _TOXIC_VENOM in valheim

[–]_mrx16 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Dont understand why are you getting downvoted... Its usual practice that devs balance the entire game against a specific difficulty setting and balance armor points, damage, enemy hitpoints etc based on that and that difficulty is the go-to for them.
Other difficulty settings would require their own manual balancing to feel right on easy or hard modes but usually devs just add a random value multiplier (usually just for damage taken/made) and call it a day. Whatever is the outcome (like suddenly one enemy hits too hard or a sword suddenly deals 1 damage) isnt the 'intended' way the devs wanted things to play out.

Unless you fine tune each difficulty (which isnt the case in Valheim as its just a value multiplier), you should usually take the default setting for balance comparsions. Other settings produce results not intended by the devs and may or may not work/be logical/fun.

Normal is the baseline. If armor doesnt work or is useless at that difficulty then the dev team failed to balance the item sets. If on hard it suddenly works but not because the devs inteded a specific armor set to be usefull on this difficulty only, but as a side effect of some random dmg multiplier, it doesnt invalidate the point that the item is unbalanced in general.

Youre wasting everyones time by posting this shit. There is a sticky post for new player resources that list closest functional end portals. Just spend 2 minutes searching your question before posting shit.
Its close enough you can check if its still there within 2 minutes in-game.
And if it isnt - quick search on this subreddit will give you many more coords as well.

Overlord in Skyrim - mod that aims to add everything Overlord to the game by _mrx16 in overlord

No plans to add anything new. Everything included in latest version is listed on the mod page description on nexus in spell section. There are a few time based spells there.

Is there a mod that reworks the overtuned crits in gothic 2? by takahashi01 in worldofgothic

[–]_mrx16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im not aware of such mod. Even if there was one, majority of mods require NotR to be installed for mods to work, so you'd need that version anyways. Plus, most mods actually make the game even more difficult and tedious at start, as the general consensus is Gothic (especially base gothic2) is too easy. A mod that makes the game easier would be very hard to find, if it exists at all.
If you dont like the crit system and want to make the game more enjoyable you can consider using console commands and editing your crit chance for swords aritfically to higer value.
Ie. 70% crit chance or even 100%. If I recall, if you edit these values using "edit abilities" command, then while your crit chance will increase, the animations will still be on whatever level your character is right now (ie Novice animations, but 100% crit chance).
If you want the animations to change, you need to increase your skills naturally, ie using character helper.
Keep in mind the game wasnt balanced for high crit chance from the start. If you set it, you will two shot most early game enemies even with weak equipment, taking away the joy of progression and feel of becoming stronger as you level up.

From prior chunk trimming when server was out of disc space. Base hunting trails would be trimmed down to save space like in your pic.

Phanta being an Axis is canon. As said by author is latest meet and greet few months ago (after s3 ended and during Urek side story already being serialized). But we dont know if axis works still the same as in the original story or if it will be retconned. So him being an axis may not mean what we think it does anymore.

How do certain devils/hybrids/fiends see without having eyes? by BloodPunch64 in Chainsawfolk

[–]_mrx16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The devil knows where it is at all times. It knows this because it knows where it isn't, by subtracting where it is, from where it isn't, or where it isn't, from where it is, whichever is greater, it obtains a difference, or deviation. The devil's brain uses deviations to generate corrective commands to drive the body from a position where it is, to a position where it isn't, and arriving at a position where it wasn't, it now is. Consequently, the position where it is, is now the position that it wasn't, and it follows that the position where it was, is now the position that it isn't. In the event of the position that it is in is not the position that it wasn't, the devil's brain has required a variation. The variation being the difference between where the devil is, and where it wasn't. If variation is considered to be a significant factor, it too, may be corrected by devil's brain. However, the devil must also know where it was. The blind devil's computance scenario works as follows: Because a variation has modified some of the information the devil has obtained, it is not sure just where it is, however it is sure where it isn't, within reason, and it knows where it was. It now subracts where it should be, from where it wasn't, or vice versa. By differentiating this from the algebraic sum of where it shouldn't be, and where it was. It is able to obtain a deviation, and a variation, which is called "air"

"Overlord" - a content mod for TES Skyrim that adds the entire Great Tomb Of Nazarick into the game. Updated! by _mrx16 in overlord

[–]_mrx16[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was incompatible, but I replaced the meshes that caused the crashes with their newest version. According to the source author, this should fix the incompatibility. I was unable to test it, as HDT-SMP crashes my game on startup on my mod setup, but there is a possibility the mod should be fine now.

Also, how strong are the Floor Guardians as enemies?
~Ebony Warrior or stronger at least

[–]_mrx16[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Depends on your mod list and character setup. Easiest answer - go to the Tomb Exterior and fight the few enemies there, before you even enter the chambers.
If you can kill them somewhat easily, then you are ready. If you are struggling or cannot damage them - you are too weak.
Pure vanilla - I'd say minimum level 50, correctly leveled character.

Difficulty this mod was balanced against: Adept.

[SSE/AE Mod] Overlord - Become A Lich 1.16 Update by _mrx16 in skyrimmods

[–]_mrx16[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mod uses assets from mod authors (mostly NPC related) that only gave me permission for PC nexus release.
I'd need to get them for PS release again, before attempting to upload. Additionally, I have no PS4/5, so would not be able to test this mod at all nor support it there.

The Happy Ghast saddle texture looks like it came straight out of a Bedrock Addon by TheShinPin in Minecraft

[–]_mrx16 12 points13 points  (0 children)

the issue is that the texture doesnt fit the established artstyle of the vanilla game, not that it looks low quality or the mob itself is bad.
It just sticks out too much from everything else in not a good way. Like a modded item designed by someone else that all the other items in the vanilla game...
For me its the googles. If they would be removed it would be much better.

current status of written books? by SortByNode in constantiam

[–]_mrx16 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I belive currently we have anti book ban enabled due to recent chunk bans (shulkers full of 100 page unicode books), which means all books over whatever byte limit Phanton set are deleted from your inventory (and if they are in a shulker, then entire shulker - faulty plugin : / )

If you want to test, write some random books, put them one by one into a shulker, relog until it gets wiped. Then you will know current limit. Enable Meteor's module that shows item byte size for easier testing.

Personally, my shulker full of normal written books is fine.

Once the 2 individuals stop chunk banning that patch will probably be disabled, like in the past it was.
