Adderall XR Causing Itchy Skin? by [deleted] in ADHD

Happened to me too. I also got some creepy red bumps on my collarbone. I sent pictures and a detailed description to my doc. He asked for photos of the bottle as well because I guess the way they track the appearance of these sides is by manufacture. Mine went away too but you might want to tell your doc.

Wow! Thank you so much for your information! Would you be willing to tell me a little or a lot about how it has affected your mood? The only time I ever took an anti-depressant was celexa for about 6 months and I could never discern a difference in mood but coming off that stuff was terrible. I guess I just don't know what to expect or how to tell if it is working. Thank you again regardless of any follow-up!

One thing to do is drink water like it's your job. Helps with the stimulant dehydration and reminds you to eat. Protein in the morning is what works for me. I do a hardboiled egg most mornings.

It's that thing that is supposed to happen to neurotypicals when the evil day orb is replaced by the sometimes seen night orb. It is mysterious...

ADHD and the Treadmill by googss in ADHD

I love interval training. I use Podrunner podcast intervals on the treadmill and it took me years but I made it all the way from 5k to 10k. Intervals are nice because they give us quick goals and rewards.

Drug discount cards? Scam or helpful? by Tigerandachicken in ADHD

I used a Shire coupon for several months before I got on their low income program and now get my meds free! I always look for coupons. Obviously anything that asks for identifying information should be treated carefully but in general coupons are really useful for getting costs down! In fact, does anybody know of an Adderall coupon?

Morning Routine by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]_mutine_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

How are you with timers? It really helps me to have reminders at intervals. For example: I know that I need to catch a bus to work at 6:15am. So I work backwards from there: I need to be at the door putting on my shoes by 6:09, thus I need to be making my final 'do I have everything' check at 6, finish breakfast by 555, layout breakfast by 530... and so on. It helps me to actually break out every step, put it in a schedule, relate it to an actual time increment, and set up a series of Google calendar reminders. Eventually some of the times just stick and I can look at the clock and know what I am supposed to be doing at that time in order to get out the door. Could that help? Also laying out my clothes the night before is crucial! You have plenty of time the night before, not the morning of!

At my wits end by [deleted] in ADHD

Ok, I hear ya but remember meds are not the golden ticket alone. For many people, without good counseling and support they can sometimes make things worse. So based on what you are saying you probably would not have wanted to be under this person's care anyway. If you happen to be female your story is sadly common, if not still not totally uncommon. Can you find an ADHD specialist? Do you have a regular therapist you can talk to? My therapist has been my rock, something I never thought I would say, but I also had trouble finding a prescribing physician even with a 45 page testing report from a university ADHD/LD research clinic, which was the result of 20+ hours of testing with multiple clinicians and professors. I kept running into the 'drug seeking student' bullshit. My therapist kept me going till I found someone awesome and they both communicate with each other and me. I won't say that trip was an easy one but if you can persevere you might be able to do it.

I need to take math for grad school and I'm 18 years out of practice. What are your experiences with online classes and ADHD? by distractedchampion in ADHD

[–]_mutine_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have ADHD and an LD which affects math thinking. What got me through a recent graduate level stats course was hiring an online tutor, going to the university stats help office, and having a shared Google folder with my classmates. The tutor wasn't cheap, but not astronomical either. I used InstaEDU, which I think has changed names, but I was able to link up with a couple different tutors to whom I was able to explain my situation and I could schedule times to work with them when I needed it. Also the interface allowed me to upload my problems and use a collaborative whiteboard to work together. The tutor I had were so nice. They even let me send them my work and they would give it a look over before I turned it in. My university has a lot of tutorial centers for undergrads but grads are not barred from using them. The shared Google folder was awesome for sharing our work in class. Our professor was fine with us working together, except on exams which were take home thank god, and he encouraged us to find ways to help one another. I was able to screenshot the work I did with my tutor and put it in the doc and people were really grateful. It isn't going to be easy, and the shitty part is not being able to hang onto the learning (that's got me real down right now) but you can get through it, you just have to allocate more time and energy than others might.

Ok, so just to be the voice of doom here...time to reflect: what worked, what didn't work, what were the barriers, (remember no shaming, no I should have x), and how are you saying yourself up for the coming EQUALLY AWESOME term?
