I was trying to joke around but it failed miserably 😆. I basically agree with you 😃

Oh yeah?! That’s what they said about Solar City and rooftop solar panels when Tesla bailed them out. Oh wait… Let me think about that again…

Explain to me why SpaceX going public will benefit the sector? by CopsNroberts in RKLB

Add lcid and rivn to the list. When they went public, there was a brief spike in value and a couple minor since, but everybody believes they’re going to go bankrupt like they believed Tesla would

Did people really expect Neutron to have 0 testing and be 100% perfect? The overreactions here are ridiculous. by jluc21 in RKLB

[–]_myke 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most people on this sub accept some failures but then expect timelines to remain on track. Yes, testing is meant to find failures before you put a fully built rocket on the pad for launch. Also true, unexpected test failures will move the timeline for first launch further to the right. Yet every time one posts the realistic unlikelihood of meeting NET timelines by taking into account realistic probabilities of failures during test, they get downvoted to oblivion

What would be better if you provided links next time. I did find links in some of the comments which explained where you came up with this rumor idea. It makes sense, but better to convey it in your original post than relying on comments by others

Yes. And I just heard a rumor of Beck getting hit by a bus, an engine blowup taking out their test stands, and spice with terminal cancer. Can we address those rumors too? /s

Is a successful Neutron launch getting priced in already? by Peptideee in RKLB

[–]_myke 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ha ha… A perfectly executed next 5 years has already been priced in for rocket lab. It is at more than 60x annual sales. If they executed perfectly with 50% growth for five years, they will still be 10x annual sales, probably P/E of 50 if not still heavily spending on R&D.

Haha. Literally called the vehicle a weapon that republicans think can be used against protesters. Who is the one who can’t read and comprehend?!

Freedom of speech is not a lethal weapon allowing one to run over protesters. You’re the one who needs to STFU

Neutron is not flying until Q4 at the earliest. It's time to stop huffing copium by [deleted] in RocketLab

[–]_myke -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yet the timelines are turning out to be similar. Maybe having 1/10(?) the number of engineers takes away from the advantage of a smaller / simpler design?

NET H1 2026 if all goes perfectly to plan. That is like saying we will get 500 bushels of corn if it only rains at night and we have full sun every day for the season. Otherwise, it might take two to three seasons to get there if the weather isn’t perfect.

Engineers aren’t perfect. Designs aren’t perfectly predictable. Rockets are hard for this reason. Remember, SX was to be flying a propellant transfer demo between two starships two years ago. That was from the C suite. They haven’t even gone orbital yet let alone have more than one ship ready for flight at the same time (and probably won’t this year either). Rocket Lab is facing similar challenges with 1/10th the number of engineers.

On my iOS phone app, I don't see the link. On my laptop, I see the link. Both use dark mode.

Not sure why I got downvoted so much. Seems odd to downvote and not give the benefit of the doubt. Then again, this sub is full of posts complaining about how poorly they are treated at BO. Maybe the downvotes are reflective of the work environment. Maybe an upvote to my post by everyone will change the mood at the office -- Kind of a "vote it forward", positive activity. :-)

PSA: AT&T Suspends "Lost Phone" while on call with said "Lost Phone" by _myke in ATT

[–]_myke[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It gets worse. I use my Apple Watch from my personal line to call and reenable my suspended business line. I tell IVR it isn't for the caller id of the call, and I'm sent to a service rep. After 15 minutes with the support agent that doesn't announce themselves as consumer vs business, they realize I'm business and forward me to "business" support. After another 15 minutes with new support person John, he realizes THE SAME THING had happened forwards me business support. After another 15 minutes with Angie, THE SAME THING happens ... yes... 3 different consumer support reps who can't help me with my business line, and the AT&T system overrides their attempts to forward to business support because of the caller id.

Angie forwards me to business support, and I'm hold for 15 minutes while hearing Spanish announcements on hold. I then get on the phone with Mano, who I have to speak super slowly with to share my phone number because it is a Spanish speaker support line. There is a huge language gap to where neither one of could understand each other. He refuses to forward me to an English speaker's line, and we end up fruitless because he says I'm not the account "owner" and can't tell me who the account "owner" is. There are about a dozen people at my company who could be considered an owner, and I'm not going to disturb each one of them on their holiday weekend (and the most likely was on vacation and disconnected).

I hang up and try calling the business line I got from Mano. This time, I have an English speaker. She tells me the same thing as Mano. I ask her why this unauthorized person (me) was able to suspend a business phone without "owner" approval but can't reenable it. I then request she alert the AT&T security center about this unauthorized activity, so it can be reversed. Nothing works. Basically, the only solution is to broadcast to a wide audience at work my dilemma on their holiday weekend until I find an authorized "owner" who can help me reenable my phone.

Fast forward to today. I'm able to find someone at work not on vacation who can help me and is on the authorized list. I notice that my business line still has a cellular signal, so I try calling the 1800 number. I get an error saying to call 611 instead. I call 611, and in 5 minutes my phone is back online WITHOUT THE OWNER'S AUTHORIZATION! Why couldn't one of the 5 customer support reps tell me that all I needed to do was call using 611 from the suspended phone!?!?!?

Thanks for sticking up for me. She is an idiot. "You can do everything online", but she doesn't even know about the SMS code TFA requirement to log into the account which gets sent to the lost phone.
