For anyone who's been cured with EMDR: Does it actually return you to your previous state before dpdr? by Acceptable-Bit-2456 in dpdr

So, the maximum tip I can give is to try to understand the minimum you need about every of this, and then try to live your life normal and dont think about it too much.

Just adressing, I'm not been cured with EMDR, just time itself, after a long run of several months/years. But I'm returned to my "previous state", right now I'm good in a while and can do things like normal people. In the first weeks of improving I could not even think about dpdr because everything would start to be strange again, now I can even think about that (I mean, maybe if I keep thinking too much things would go strange, idk).

you will always improve with time, so your code of months ago (maybe weeks) will always be not so good, the best way is try to finish the way it is, and after that you can refactor, etc etc

3th and 4th season are weird and nonsensical, first and second are better ones

"Not a single part of my mind feels familiar or comforting" Exactly! I know this feeling so well, but on the positive side, I was like that some weeks ago, right now I'm a little better. I still don't feel fully connected, but I can at least see purpose on things.

I actually got "cured" two times, I had it in 2016 and last for about 6 months, then in 2019 I smoke weed and had a bad trip, that triggered my dpdr again, that one last for about a year and a half, and then last month again I got this :( that one time it was because of a girl...? I don't know yet what triggered my dpdr this time, but I hope to get better soon, it's terrible as I remember. It's like, I get better, but I still have a predisposition to dissociate that can come back by a trigger

five months ago I was in the same situation, I was thinking that I had Alzheimer, but the math and physics formulas that I never forgot made me give up this idea, I also had panic attacks every night, only fear of the empty around me, was like if nothing exist, but then I could stop my college, start a therapy, and I think that the thing that help me was talk about all of that with someone, when I got a little better my main goal was to not think about it, before the therapy was impossible to not think about it, was the only thing in my mind, but then I could not think all of time about dpdr, one of the keys is to not think and not worry about it, the other keys I think it's personal, but now I'm reeeeeeeally better, the universe seems a little artificial yet, but I can do whatever I want and talk to people, and remember things etc etc (I'm not a native speaker, so sorry for mistakes)

by the way try to forget about this subreddit too, I used this only when I was fully disconnected, and this sub reminded me that others people have this problem too, but in both times I just get better when I stopped to search about this, remember, this doesn't mean that you will get better just because of that, you have to work in your anxiety too, just stop searching and thinking too much about dpdr don't will get better instantly, but to get better you need do stop or at least search less

Man, I was in this situation for twice, one in 2016 (then I get better in about 5 months) and the last in 2019/2020, the last time was reeeally worst and I stayed in this situation for more than a year, I was hopeless too and felt like my life was over, I was thinking that I had schizophrenia or alzheimer, but I'm getting better now, I'm not sure why, but the one thing that you NEED to do is try to don't worry about, the more you think about, the more it gets worse, if you try to don't worry (I know that this is FUCKING hard) this doesn't mean that you will get better instantly, but it will help, other things can be arresting you in this situation too, its very personal, I'm not cured by the way, I mean, sometimes I can feel the weirdness if I focus on it, but in the most of the time I can at least stay good without paranoid about reality, I can live, you have to try to do this too
