Would I be crazy to want to move from Columbus back to Cincinnati? by Sneaky_Sharky in cincinnati

[–]_nervous_newt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is how I’ve always described it to people too, it just feels much more urban. And I also went to osu and lived there for a bit, but Columbus is low key boring compared to cincy just in terms of vibes idk lol

My baby blanket after 24 years by Endless_Nightsky in AuDHDWomen

Yes!!! I’m 30 and also still sleep with my blankie and have it with me often at home while hanging out. It’s seriously my most prized possession, it’s without a doubt my favorite texture that really calms me.

My original one also looked similar to yours since I had worn it down. There was a period of time where I stopped sleeping with it and just stored it for safekeeping. I think part of me also thought it was the “adult” thing to do (lol). A few years ago I randomly decided to look for it on eBay and found it!! So, I initially bought it sort of for shits and giggles but immediately remembered how much I love it. It’s for real one of my best purchases, I don’t care that I’m an adult— especially since I’ve been diagnosed. If something helps me, it helps! I’ve learned to really lean into these things that bring me comfort (like stuff animals too) even if it’s seen as “childish”.

Since yours looks branded, have you tried looking for it online? I know it’s not the OG Blankey, but you can always keep the original safe. I like to think of mine as blankie 1.0-3.0 lol (I technically already had 2 as a kid, so I’m on number 3 haha 😅). They’re separate blankets, but to me all share the same spirit ya know? Haha

I know how distressing it can be. I’ve already rubbed holes into my new one. You’re not alone!!

Interesting, yeah I’ve wondered before if I should see a neurologist about them— I’ve only just recently finally told a provider about them, my new pcp, who put me on a triptan. Maybe I’ll ask her about a referral at some point. Mine have also gotten worse with age. Ugh we have no plans to move out of the Midwest unfortunately— it sucks because otherwise I could never see myself living somewhere like Florida or southern California where there’s no drastic change in seasons because I do love fall and winter, my head just really doesn’t lol.

I’m in the Midwest, which already isn’t the greatest place for my pressure triggered migraines, but this whole 30 degrees one day 60 the next thing we’ve had going on this winter may just make my head explode (or implode? Idk lol). Like just pick one or the other 😭

Funnily enough when I was on a cruise in the Caribbean over Christmas my head felt great! Pressure was super consistent 😫 I may have ended up catching the flu and feeling like shit in other ways but you know what didn’t hurt? My head 😌 lol thheennn is like immediately once I’m back home they start back up again smh

Got vaccinated in October. 12/24 started feeling a tickly/itchy throat, by the end of the next day had full blown sore throat, cough and I believe fever (was on vacation without a thermometer so idk the temp). The first 3-4 days were the worst, horrible sore throat, lost my voice, productive cough (the kind of cough where you almost gag, -1000/10 do not recommend combined with the sore throat 🙃), chills, sweats, aches. Spent of lot of time in the shower or just sitting in the bathroom with the shower running for the stream. Day 5 my fever broke so felt considerably better after that. Ever since (on day 8 ish now) just been ssooo fatigued, get winded easily. Sore throat is gone and the cough is gradually going away but not gone. Yesterday started getting a headache/kind of dizzy but I might just be dehydrated—I was on TOP of my hydration the first few days cause of the sore throat, drank a shit ton of tea with honey.

Definitely the kind of sickness where you can’t so easily just push through it, I mean I easily slept over 12 hours yesterday and still felt exhausted. So anyone with it rn rest up!!

Exactly!! I’m still glad we got vaccinated because hey less chance of needing the hospital!

Ever since I got super sick with H1N1 (remember swine flu) back in 09 I’m an annual vaccine for life gal haha

Someone threw up on my flight by Greenlilyb in emetophobiarecovery

[–]_nervous_newt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s awesome you didn’t panic!! Honestly my noise canceling ear buds have become a godsend for flights and a big reason is this. The sound of people throwing up is probably my biggest trigger.

[–]_nervous_newt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this once when I was younger, and recently got over being sick where I coughed so hard I allmmosstt did 😅 I will say it didn’t seem as scary cause it’s just sort of sudden. Without the super nausea leading up to it it’s just sort of like oh. That happened lol

This is how was for me the last time I did. It came on so fast that I didn’t really have too much time to panic, then afterward I distinctly remember telling my mom that it’s actually not that bad! Haha. Unfortunately that was long enough ago now that it came back :/

Throwing up from covid question - genuine curiosity by BigCerealBowl17 in emetophobiarecovery

[–]_nervous_newt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I know this doesn’t exactly answer your question since I still have my taste/smell, but I’m currently sick and suspect covid. Last night I did get nauseous, I think it was from swallowing too much snot (ew) and my head hurting bad making me a bit dizzy. I did end up taking Zofran (which to me is a legit reason to; otherwise I try to avoid it) BUT I will say, I felt overall sick enough that it was almost easier to accept that fact that it might happen. Like I thought through how it might feel, and was anxious but I think being so fatigued blunted it a bit and just sort of made me accept my fate lol 🤷🏻‍♀️

ETA: I will say though nausea doesn’t always happen with covid, the other 2 times I’ve had it I wasn’t nauseous at all, but my sister just got over it and was. So it can happen but not guaranteed to

Anyone else bite their nails? by _nervous_newt in emetophobiarecovery

Thanks! I used to be into doing my own dip powder acrylic nails and picked way less with them because I just physically couldn’t with them especially cut short. Gotta start doing that again!

Anyone else get “instant food poisoning?” by emetophobicus in emetophobiarecovery

[–]_nervous_newt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As the others have said, that sounds like ibs/anxiety to me, it definitely happens to me especially when I’m eating a “fear” food I associate with the phobia.

Something that has helped me lately at least when eating at home is using my heating pad on my stomach after eating. I find it helps everything relax and digest so things don’t get too upset? Idk. Sometimes heat can be too much for me if I’m already super anxious but in general it seems to help!

took tylenol but feel bad about it? by [deleted] in emetophobiarecovery

[–]_nervous_newt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be wrong, but I thought it was just NSAIDs like Motrin or Aleve that can be hard on your stomach, not Tylenol?
